Sorry Ukraine but you are not better than Russia if you boycott your own artists only because they ARE professionals and don't cancel their concerts and agreements in Russia. If you want to slap Russia in front of Europe, give an example of democracy and let music be just music and let every artist decide what is best for their career.

Artists should not be sacrificed for playing politics.

Because all countries' selections are so fair and square??

Like I wrote on the other page, there is an unproportional focus on the Ukrainian selections for the past years (thank you Kremlin internet trolls!) and things that are normal in most selections (like contract with the broadcaster) is suddenly blown out of proportion and made into some oddity just because it's Ukraine.

Anyways, if she chooses Russia over ESC then it's also clear where she stands... although I still think people should relax and not read too much into what Kremlin trolls are flooding the internet with, I'm pretty sure she'll be the representative.

Agree on this statement and yes there are a lot of trolls out there putting out false info.

They can currently stop touring in Russia,.....but after esc certainly not, because their existence and career depend on it, real.

Ukrainian musicians do not exist without the Russian music scene, realistically. They are part of a cultural milieu called the Russian World.

Everyone has a different definition for sexy. For me sexy is the opposite of cheap. That is why I did not buy into Sergey Lazarev's tacky performance neither, I guess I won't this time around neither.

Ukraine propelled to higher standards in 2013. I rooted for Gravity to win, I adored Zlata Ognevich, she exuded class. The song gave me life.

Honestly, I found Ukraine rather annoying in 2006, 2008, 2009 (!!), 2011, 2012. But that changed.

In 2014, they had a catchy song, that was sexily performed, but it was not slutty or in your face. 2017 and 2018 were good, Under the ladder was quite a good song indeed, the problem was the enunciation of English and the weird Dracula show.

This song is not a masterpiece, those trumpets put me off and make me cringe inside. But even more so the show. It's so cheap and low, borderline porn. Music and show, very low. It reminds of the terrible acts pre-2013, especially 2006 and 2009.

I think Ukraine 2004-2013 were their highlight years (bar the the lame 2011), 2016 was obviously also great in its own way, 2017-2018 were really let-downs though and no surprise they flopped.

I think people are oversensitive these days to "sexy-ness", I get your point about that you can sell the concept in different ways but I don't mind a "semi-pornographic" show every now and then if it's tongue-in-cheek or even "over-the-top"... the worst are the ones that try to be sexy but you can feel they don't "own it" and that they feel uncomfortable with it... maybe Maruv can be cheap to some, but at least she owns it and that's a difference. Not sure if it makes sense?

If this is true , then there are small chances that Maruv goes to Tel Aviv..just because Ukraine is now one sad country which unsuccessfully builds its image on anti-russian hysteria . It will not get far in that way.
