I personally dislike this entry and don't give a shit about her background.. :?
My only wish if she goes is to flop as much as possible, in order to prevent sending such entries in the future..
I will stop in this poisoned thread now, cause I don't like entry to comment more..I think it doesn't deserve more attention really..
This story is sick because Kremlin trolls are flooded the internet making it look bigger than it is only to discredit Ukraine and it's sad that people are jumping on the bandwagon... this happened every year now since the Euromaidan and Russia's occupation and I'm surprised people can't see through it now...
There are different "dramas" and "behind closed doors" business in all selections but ironically everyone are making a big issue with the Ukrainian one, ignoring the rest ... interesting

politics is everywhere in life. there is no safe space from it. we can't just ask the whole world to stop for eurovision and ignore everything outside of it. that's a very narrow-minded and privileged point of view for someone who isn't ukrainian. we aren't living the situation they are. we can have an opinion on what is happening (mine: this is dumb and insidious as fuck), but we can't just ask anyone to go there and do something about it. as long as it stays inside ukraine, ebu cannot and should not do anything about it, much like they didn't with every other internal political drama we had this year.

This is turning out to be yet an another draamaa moment. We don't know for sure what is happeneing, but I am sure we will know soon enough. My eyes on it that this is not worked out in the right way. Ukrainian TV should have sorted this out earlier, at least before the final since it was clear that Maruv was one of the favorites to win. They might have though, this might be information that is false. I have no idea from where this information is from (if this is being from Russians...I don't understand why they would care...if it was from Ukrainians, I don't understand why they want to hurt their own name...but I should just drop this thoughts to begin with).
IF (we have to wait and see where this ends) it is so that she has to cancel concerts in Russia to perform for Ukraine in Tel Aviv, it is very sad. Probably she loses a lot of money to cancel these contracts and also might hurt her reputation as an artist in Russia. I hope that IF it is this way, that she will agree and that she has prepared herself for this. But Ukrainian TV should really have second thoughts on this part of the deals (if it is true)...cause in the end, this might make many established singers to hesitate joining the national final in the future.

It's not comparable? We are talking about contracts here aren't we? You were concerned that people didn't get what they voted for and Spain's selection is a good example where people voted for entrants that were already saying they were going to boycott ESC and potentially you'd end up with a winner that wouldn't go and breach their contract and it's funny that TVE were allowing them in the first place knowing this so actually... the situation is not THAT different from this one tbh

She could be for the USSR reunification, for all I care. She won fair and square, and is therefore their representative. People just love drama and making up stories, and both sides are just awful wether it is this KreMLiN SPieS or FasciSt UkRaiNe. I just think that Ukrainian broadcaster should do better their job...at their job and stop these claims and rumours if they are false or confirm the situation if it is real.

No, it's not comparable because TVE is not responsible for the ideology of three contestants, especially when they never said anything in 3 months and waited until they had been given the songs to tell their thoughts about Eurovision being held in Israel, and in their contract there was nothing related to politics. It's not the same.
And what I meant with Catalonia is that, during our NF, nobody asked political questions in a music show. That was completely inappropriate.
I'm not saying Ukraine doesn't have reasons to be very hostile against Russia, I can understand that. What I don't like is how they bring their conflict into a show that was born to unite countries.
