The most deserved entry would be Sunsay :( So I'm not glad but atleast I satisfied that The Hardkiss didn't win with their primitive boring song which I really hate. Thanks to Jamala I won't turn off my TV during performance of ukrainian entry. 1944 is rather enjoyable but I don't like the chorus a lot. 2 pts

Glad that Jamala got the chance to go to Eurovision after 3rd place in 2011 :D

I think that I need to give a few more listens to this entry, but I guess that it could be in my top half of ESC 2016 entries :D

Why so many dislikes on Youtube? I guess it has to do with the perceived political criticism that some people have mentioned here. I doubt it's because of the song, a lot of people seem to like it.

Jamala had quite an appearance in the Turkish news, if we were in the contest we would probably give 10 to Ukraine (12 belongs to :az:)

Turkey might return next year though, with the new voting system!

AlekS or anyone else, do you happen to know where I can watch a video of Jamala's press conference after her victory (the one where she sits at jury's place, I wanted to hear what Danylko was telling her)? Cannot find it anywhere.

TRT does not care about the voting system, it was just an excuse. They do not want to broadcast drag queens, gays, girls kissing eachother etc. We are getting more and more distant to Europe. If they come back, they come back because of the reaction of the public, not because the voting system has changed.

I see.
So, there's not any hope for us to see Turkey returning to the ESC?

I think even if it wasn't political, this usually happens with an entry that seems to be a threat. Those who do not like it tend to exaggerate.

Here many newspapers and portals wrote about this year Ukrainian entry. And nobody wrote about music :(
Even traditionally pro-European and liberal media (as B92) have a critical view on her song. And that is not good. First is not good for Ukraine as a country, and second it's very bad for Eurovision

It's making me rather sad Jamala has been all over the international media for all the wrong reasons. Her song is special first and foremost, and she's an artist that has really grown into a remarkable one for me since her 'Smile' debut year. I feel like the quality of her song (and for me it is a very high quality song) is getting lost here.

Unfortunately that is the true. That is why I said earlier it is not the right time for such a song representing Ukraine.
Georgia was in same situation in 2008, but they send "Peace Will Come" and Jamala sing When strangers are coming... They come to your house, They kill you all ..... I think it is really too much, even for Eurovision.

And honestly I am tired of all that eastern bullshits coming from Russia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Armenia

All this chit-chat won't affect in any way Ukraine's results this year, if people happen to love the song in May, they will vote for it. Period.
Every year, we get our share of so-called controversy in 3rd class newspapers, that's old story.

This is true. I also don't think casual viewers will care much (or even know) about political controversy
