I was in the Lviv airport, its not that small, also currently increase the number of flights.
Lviv is called Ukrainian Vienna. I think it has enough infrastructure for hosting, after all it was one of the host cities of Euro 2012. Its also very close to Europe, most safe for Europeans city imo (and most European in general)

I visited Lviv years ago. I was delighted! Such a charming city!

Folks, i don't think they dare to host it in Lviv. We'll met you in Kyiv, though it's not that safe in my opinion.

So far three cities expressed interest to host ESC - Kyiv, Odessa, Dnipropetrovsk (don't worry, for europeans it will be called Dnipro).

Congrats Ukraine! Screamed of joy when Jamala took the trophy at the last superexciting minutes. Now you select The Hardkiss and let Julia take it home for that crushing 2 year in a row win!

Yes! Hardkiss was amazing at their national final! It would be fitting if they internally choose them as they did tie with Jamala this year. I know they would bring a really cool song to the final next year. I am so happy for Ukraine when they took the lead. I always thought that she would do well this year, like top 10, but not actually win as everyone was hyping Russia and Australia to win. I mean this year was the most exciting voting I've seen in a very long time.

As for Jamala's song itself. I would have to agree with the ESC reference group that the song doesn't have any political overtones. Yes, it is referencing to a horrible event that affected her family during Stalin's rule. However, millions of people outside of the former USSR have been affected by similar events, whether that be forced deportations or even genocide. Her song was more universal. Humans tend to think "they are gods", especially over people deemed inferior or a threat. It's human nature unfortunately and has happened time and time again throughout human history and is happening all over the world today.

Lyrics aside, her voice and the minimalist nature of the music and her performance made it truly stand out, especially in a year where I felt most entries were trying too hard. She did have the best voice and her performance made me speechless. So I think her win was well deserved.

I think it is fairly safe to count out Dnipropetrovsk as a potential hosing city. Really don't see it being hosted there for several reasons.

Our politicians already planning to return Crimea "to home"... poor Jamala, she's just instrument of political games.

Dear, I didn't say I am opposed, I've said only that Jamala's story is as traumatic to her as it is for her enemies = Russians, and I pointed out that surely there are a lot of Russians who have same or even more horrible stories than jamala. But then you started preaching me how ignorant I am for mentioning Wikipedia as a reliable source, cuz according to you this is not a reliable source and there is no way that Ukrainians could be horrible people/others might have their own horrible stories. Then, when I told you that all English articles in English Wikipedia contain quotes from respected sources of respected scholars, you started to play this game of indirect mockery of me - and now you pretend to be superior by allowing me to be what I am. Well, my memory still works and I get you are still just mocking me. Unlike you, I am not going to tell you are not allowed cuz you are an Ukrainian, I am going to tell you as a Slovene: the one who laughs the last, laughs the hardest. :) And here I end this debate that goes no where.

the only mockery I see is from you, I asked you to provide the wikipedia page where "Ukrainian nazi mistreats Russian girl" you simply ignored it. Now you judge my neutral responses and blame me for something I clearly did not do... Be yourself or whom you want to be, I don't care. I just don't see a good argument in any of your responses. If you call Ukrainians hypocrites - prove it. Prove we did equally same bad things as the nation you yourself mentioned in your post. Btw, Jamala has never say anything against Russians, why do they all the time screaming as if it refers to them, and why do you yourself say it's their fault. I don't get. And yes, I leave my right not to respond to what you will say, just more than sure it will be a lot of pointless words without any good argument.

I call it Dnipro, because I am Ukrainian European. And yes, Lviv is in the race. Didn't you say Ukraine won't even qualify to the final before?

Jamala's final performance still gives me goosebumps & I'm so happy that she won.
Now I hope that it's Kiev 2017 & the huge olympic stadium.

Iceland and Estonia didn't qualify with decent songs. Serbia barely qualified. Jamala had chances to flop. But now i see it's just impossible, even theoretically.

I think Kyiv has the most chances, Olimpiys'kyi is almost in the city center, if they want to use Palace of Sports/Palace "Ukrayina" for some additional activities, it's not that far away. Dnipro is a bit too close to the conflict zone, Lviv Arena may be too far away from the city center according to their calculations. Can't say anything about Odesa, at least it's next to Black Sea, pretty romantic :D

Ukrainian Nazi collaborationists killed their own people who were pro-Soviet, so really, don't try to tell me the didn't mistreat Russian girls. Read also something about massacres of Ukrainian Nazi collaborators over Polish and Jewish and Bellorussian people... In particular about what happened at Babi Yar to Jews. And I didn't read these things in Russian media, cuz I don't speak Russian. Its all in American-Israeli historical studies some of which were conducted and written already in 60s. But I do agree with you that my words are pointless, so, I wish you a pleasant evening. See you around.

While Dnipropetrovsk is the closest city to the Donbass region, it's not in it. I think a bigger problem is that Ukraine only has two fully indoor arena that has a capacity of at least 10,000. The only two that I know of are the Palace of Sport in Kiev and Sport-Complex Illichivets in Mariupol, which is in Donetsk Oblast :? The venues provided so far are all open air stadiums, so that means whichever is chosen will have to build a roof, which is going to cost millions of dollars. It's going to be tricky to whoever hosts next year. However knowing Ukraine and their history of hosting Eurovision (ESC in 2005, and JESC in 2009 and 2013), I think they'll pull it off.

Sorry for my last post if it's a little late. I do agree that Kiev does have the best chances of hosting next year as it is the more recognized city outside of Ukraine. Lviv could host it but it is very from the city center, but still would be a beautiful host. Odessa does seem like another beautiful city to host. Also, I think the Moldovan delegation would appreciate it as it is close to Chisinau. I kind of see why Kherson is bidding to host as it is close to Crimea but I wonder how easy is it to get there from other countries.

Actually, I've been wanting to go see Eurovision live for a few years now. I was planning to go this year, but wasn't able to. Now that I know that it will be in Ukraine next year, I think it would be rather interesting if I go. I have been rather interested in Eastern European and Soviet Architecture for a while now, especially with Khrushchyovkas. I think it would be a true adventure for me.

That is not even the biggest problem Dnipropetrovsk has. If you remember the last time Ukraine hosted ESC, they heavily tried to downplay anything coming from Eastern Ukraine or associated with Russian speakers (eg there was this analysis that out of all of the postcards, 2 were about Eastern Ukraine, the rest was about Central/Western regions). Do not think things have changed in that regard.
