As my friend likes to say "(insert the rival's name here:
Valletta) was just an easy training for the Belgrade's giant"
Partizan defeated Valletta with 4:1 in
and we basically secured the next round. A rematch in Belgrade will only be formal.
I am quite satisfied with the first match, even though I think our defense isn't too great. But I hope that will improve, and also that one more experienced defensive player will be brought
In the first leg,
BATE Borisov -
Vardar 3:2 (1:0).
Vardar played a great game and had a lead until the 90th minute with 1:2. In the last 3 minutes they conceded 2 goals and lost. :? Anyway, I think Vardar can win on the next game and go through. Vardar broke the 6 game post of non-scoring goals that the Macedonian teams made in the CL in the past 3 seasons.
I watched several matches yesterday, and one of them was BATE - Vardar. It is just......too bad how you lost
If they kept the possession of the ball instead of shooting it away, I think you would've won. This reminds me of our failures too. It is a typical "Balkan syndrome" - we retreat as soon as we score and try to keep that result by defending, and, as a consequence, we get goals in last minutes and seconds of the match
Other than that, Vardar played really well, and you definetly have chances in the second match. I expected much more from BATE, because I think they are one of the best teams from Eastern Europe. But, ball is round and everything is possible.
I "scanned" some of our potential rivals in the next round last night, and I am definetly hoping that we'll avoid
Slask (they played really well in Podgorica last night, and I think that such tough teams with great technicians can cause many problems),
Maribor (they thrashed
Zeljeznicar........even though it was more because of Zeljo's "great" defense (
) that collapssed in the second half, made a penalty and gave them two goals as gifts, I think that they have a very good and quick transition from the phase of defense to the phase of attack, and their attack can create problems for our "great" defense as well) and
Slovan Liberec (Czech teams are always tricky).
It would be a bingo if we drew a winner from
Ekranas -
Shamrock Rovers
If Shamrock gets through, we would even have a chance to have revenge on them
Btw - today
Crvena Zvezda plays against
Naftan Novopolotsk, and
Vojvodina against
Suduva in the qualifications for Europa League.
