I don't think we will be returning

Neither do I. Turkey is already in "unknown participations" list on Wikia. TRT is going to make up something, probably say "We don't think to participation this year. We may back next year." < which is the same cliché since 2013.

BEST. GIF. EVER.

I'll probably hate TRT's decision after, but i want to see Turkey back. I missed watching the contest without any glitch and with Bülent Özveren's annoying commentary. Also that dumb blonde announcing our votes. It is the only patriotic event for me goddamnit.

I remember that dumb blonde, Meltem Ersan Yazgan, appeared in 2010 for the last time. Since then there's an old man, Ömer Önder, annoucing your votes. I don't think Meltem will show up again if Turkey comes back.

I think there might be a chance for a Turkish comeback... but the chances will be much higher with another government in control of TRT that's for sure...

I really do faith in the new manager of TRT Şenol Göka, yet anything might change after the elections next week. Just fingers crossed for a return and a fresh selection method. xpray

So basically I want to see Gülşen (or Hande Yener) on the stage for Turkey.

Re: TURKEY 2016

I don't know why Gülşen is really popular here. She's just a C class pop singer and a composer. But she lacks some vision to come up with a Eurovision friendly song. I don't think she'd a widely appreciated by the international audience.

Re: TURKEY 2016

It doesn't make any sense to decide a participation based on politic situations in Turkey though, that's Turkey so everything is possible.

Since I heard this

I am completely fascinated by Sezen Aksu. That would be a quality entry for the return.

I'm afraid she is a way too big name for ESC so it's unlikely to happen. I'd like to see her participating as a composer tho.

Re: TURKEY 2016

But she tried once, didn't she?

Right. She actually participated in the national finals from 83 to 85 but was never selected. She still was a big name back in those years but also going through a national selections or actually representing country in ESC for famous singers wasn't that big deal back then either.
She has actually a massive impact in Turkish pop / music culture till now. She supported a lot of young talents who turned out to be respected vocalists today and she keeps producing hits and doesn't hesitate to share with other famous singers. I'd actually die to see a good quality of National Final with people singing songs composed by her.
