President Obama and Prime Minister Harper made a bet on the outcome of the Canada-US women's final and men's semi - loser buys the winner a case of beer

So far Harper 1, Obama 0

I'd rather say that's Italy... 7 medals not a single gold... :(
But Austria still has slalom races. :D They might win both. :D

don't forget Germany ... ;)
30 medals in Vancouver, this year not even 20..
only 6th place in terms of medals, 9 medals lesser than USA, 7 medals lesser than Russia and the most terrible: 6 medals lesser than Netherlands.
We have the ambition to be the best winter sport nation, but this Olympics was just disappointing ****.
No wonder, the promotion of athletes here is terrible, they earn hardly money just like they wouldn't be professional athletes
The constellation that we were 1st rank in medal table a long time only hides the fact that the expectations wasn't fulfilled at all.
Of course we had much unluck... many 4th ranks, many stupid mistakes, which ruined safe medals... but nevertheless we Germans have to worry about the development of many sports

But I enjoyed the Olympics anyway :p

The only thing, that's disappoints me is the rumour Evi Sachenbacher-Stehler has been tested positive. Didn't think she needs that.

And my opinion to the results from Germany is: Of course there are some disciplines, we're not that good, we were expecting, but winning 8 gold medals and each 4 silver and 4 bronze is still okay. Everyone in Germany is expecting, that we're winning everything, but everyone who has seen the past 4 years in wintersports should know, that every single result in olympics is a mirror image to the result of the wintersports cup.

Well, I partly agree with you. Yes, we lost quality in the last years, so I didn't expect a result like in Vancouver. So maybe my critics is rather directed at the whole development of Germany in winter sports than the achievements in Olympics. As you said, it's (for the most parts) a mirror image.
But nonetheless in my opinion there were many disappointments. For example cross country sprint. In the sprint world cup ranking, Denis Hermann, as well as Tim Tscharnke are leading and BOTH failed clearly. Ice skating: Pechstein was great on 3000m track this season. But in Sotchi? Nothing, nada, niente
In Bobsport I admit the whole season wasn't successful for Germany, but the results in Sotchi were much much worse than the results in world cup
In addition many 4th places and much unluck, which annoyed me.. That's why I'm disappointed.
If we talk about disappointing nations, Germany is one candidate besides Italy, Austria.
Biggest positive surprise of course the Netherlands!

the positive test of Evi Sachenbacher makes me really sad. It's hard to still believe in the fairness of sports :(
And apart of this it didn't seem to help her enough. She was still too slow.

I only expected that Denise Herrmann could race for a medal. Okay, that she didn't advanced for the final was very disappointing, but the results from cross country competitions were much better we could expect, because Tim Tscharnke didn't has good results this season, because he was injured during the preparation. They had a bit of unluck with many falls and some 4th places, but they should see the positive out of these results. They showed themselves, that they could race for medals. This is a basic for the following seasons till the next olympics, although Teichmann, Angerer, Filbrich and Nystad were a bit too old, but Tscharnke, Herrmann and Dotzler could be the leaders of the next generation. They're not bad at all.

Of course Pechstein is a disappointment. I wouldn't say, everything was good this olympics, but it's not that bad like it's drawn by many germans. It's a warning shot for the officials and even the politics to lay attention to the promotion of sports and young athletes as well in disciplines of the summer olympics.

How is Pechstein a disappointment? Her form is slowly declining over the past few years and it's only understandable as she is already 42 years old. I think that 4th place in Olympics and bronze in WC is pretty impressive for her age.

Gold and silver in women's ski cross thanks to Marielle Thompson and Kelsey Serwa! Our men's curlers are on the ice right now going for gold against Great Britain
