AshleyWright thank you for those words. No I had no idea this had been previously discussed. I didn't look very thoroughly but I shouldn't have to since we can discuss whatever we want to here as many times we would like.

No rules are broken so why should we brother to talk About it? If there where rules broken, and the EBU has confirmed that, it was already all over the place, but it isn’t..it’s No discussion worth.

I agree, it's much ado about nothing. The song was still a work in progress back then, and it wasn't commercially released - it was a student showcase at Duncan's college playing to a small amount of people. It wasn't officially released in its current form to commercial markets until this March, so no rules were broken and he will still be in Tel Aviv fighting for the win

PS: Why the video was brought to Wiwibloggs I have no clue, they're the only ESC news site that has mentioned it. And even so, they believe that no rules were broken as well

Who spit in your cheerios this morning. :'D if that's your idea of trolling then you have no idea. The fan aggressiveness around this song is incredibly toxic and sadly isn't original these days either. Obviously the song wont be disqualified and neither should it be. Especially when other songs in the same situation have been allowed - it's all or nothing. However, this is a forum to discuss the songs and stuff going on around it, idk how many times this needs to be said. Not a place to bow down and worship blindly. You may well have discussed it before but doesn't mean Filip (idk If he has actually, I'm assuming here) or a lot of others are aware about it. I mostly certainly didnt know about this video from years ago. xshrug As for my opinion, it shouldn't be disqualified at all. If it had clearly broken rules then it should be and being a fave shouldnt protect it. I know other were allowed because so few people had seen it to cause an real advantage. Which is the case here.

Nothing to add; I just think this comment is perfect

posting on the year's favorite two weeks before the contest is always a bad idea. (I have shivers and war flashbacks thinking about Italy 2017)

Ilse gave one small hint about the staging during an interview with RTL Boulevard - she said it would be "tasteful and beautiful". I guess we'll know more on Tuesday when Duncan has his first rehearsal

He has a bit more intervies to do for Dutch media before he departs for Tel Aviv, he had his solo show at Zonnerhuis in Amsterdam yesterday - here's a little teaser: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dvUPjAtcAlU

Duncan performed two songs on NPO2's Muziekcafé program: "Miss You" and "Arcade" - this was his last performance on Dutch soil prior to his departure for Israel. In that same show, he received a special surprise... "Arcade" has gone gold in the Netherlands and the award was presented to him by the show's host! The first of many more awards to come, I'm sure

According to Duncan's latest tweet, he's all packed and ready to go - looks like he's leaving tomorrow

To the press at the airport:

"I hope I can make the Netherlands proud. I will very much give it my best. We prepared everything very well. It's bizarre, you live towards it for so long, and all of a sudden the day arrived."

He was asked if he worries about the security, in relation to the recent news:

"Of course. I've seen it. I also read the news. It's certainly something to keep in the back of your head. But I'll keep the focus on the Song Contest and the message it conveys. Music unites, and there are so many countries with the same passion. Not only for the music, but also to unite all those countries. With that vision I'm going to Israel."

Duncan is nervous:

"But it's not too bad. It's more of a healthy tension. I really am looking forward to it very much. I'm very curious about the rehearsal tomorrow, because I think you can't really prepare for a different venue and other atmosphere. It's also a good moment to measure where we are at the moment. But we've prepared everything so well. With help of Ilse (DeLange) and director Hans Pannecoucke we have rehearsed a lot in detail. That's very nice."

I hope he does well. I like the song a lot and hope that the staging will live up to the song!

Regarding the use of lasers: perhaps if they keep the aquatic theme from the video for his staging, it could represent the reflection of water. Nonetheless, I trust Ilse when she says the staging will be tasteful and beautiful - I'm nervous but excited at the same time, so I hope he really smashes it tomorrow

He'll be sitting behind a piano (as he mentioned he wanted a shorter jacket for behind a piano on stage, because shorter would be cooler, and a longer jacket for in the green room, else it all looks so "square").
