Reading all the last posts make me sad... Please don't think that a minority of people are representive for all the Dutch fans of this song.

For me it's since 2003 I really like an entry from my own country from the first time I heared it. (Sadly the staging was all wrong in 2003, and maybe my taste too ) I'm just so glad that Arcade is doing well!

Yes I did, but the first time I heared it I think it was okay and a quality song. But I didn't love it right a way. I also did't predict it would become almost first place, but not many people did.
I thought the staging was very good, after the first semi-final their popularity increased. But I was still very surprised and glad to see they endid up second.

Now this doesn't have to do anything with Dutch entry, but I have to say how good ESC fan she is, she is not blind diaspora voter, but plays so fair...she lives in the UK and is Russian from Latvia, I really like her attitude, last year she didn't like Latvian entry and she explained she won;t vote for it just because it is Latvia!

Perfect description of this entry. You see, everyone is entitled to their own opinion... BUT only if you agree with everyone else. Otherwise you get sded. The amount of top 41 videos etc that huge dislikes because that person ranked a fan fave lower down and not 1. I remember clearly when 'Walk Along' was announced for the Netherlands in 2015, and I immediately knew it was a flop in the making, but everyone butchered me for suggesting it. Also wiwibloggs did an entire article attacking the writer of Sienekes song for saying Walk Along was meh and would flop (later retracting it afaik). As we turned out, the entire thing was a huge mess and we were right all along. I agree with this woman who goes getting hate posts; it's boring. I don't pretend to be someone who loves deep meaningful music, I'd much rather listen to something fun, but enough of the fandom would decide a lump of coal would be emitting huge levels of emotion, deep meaning and innovation to music if they decided to hype it. It's like a knee-jerk reaction to entries now. fun, no real level of 'depth' to the lyrical content = fastfood, basique, Fuego copy, Something that is still very mainstream but isn't directly pop music = song of songs, deeper than Lake Baikal, Vinner ov ze Ewurovizyon. I honestly find many sections of the fandom toxic, and try to actively avoid it. I think we're lucky here to have quite a level headed forum (although I admit there are few people here also who irritate me to no end).

I think we're lucky here cause this place is great, and it's generally going to be very hard going for anyone bold (stupid) enough to share opinions like what were spewed on that woman's video (basically we wouldn't let people get away with it and they'd be piled on like a tonne of bricks). On youtube it's very easy to gang up on someone who shares an opinion that's different and to do so in a very mean and cruel way.

Still though, It's irritating sharing the contest with fans such as these. Years ago I used to make top videos but I stopped cause I just received abuse. "Where is [insert name of song here]? You have terrible taste" (Albanian's always liked me though at least ).

You know my taste in music and how I sway almost towards all sides, but connect with "deep" stuff probably most of all, yet I don't remember being an asshat back in 2012 when I was supporting Suus for instance. I hate people looking down on others. If I'm honest, I've experienced it myself too a lot in the past for liking particular songs that I do (actually experienced it both with my alternative and fun side) which is why I know it's wrong and it bothers me no matter where it's coming from, or what direction it's being pointed in. It's a lack of respect and manners. Taking pretentiousness to a whole new lame and embarrassing level. I really do want to believe that it's children doing it, cause god help us if otherwise. There's always been a really unpleasant side to the fandom though, as I guess comes with any sport or competitive event. People are messy.


My favourite comment left on the video is:

Just how could we be so stern not feeling this entry *summons the great Mariah Gregory*. I guess we need to learn how to feel music better and soften our hearts up a little.

I never became comfortable with the song once, not when it was released, not when it ended as the runner-up, not after 2014 and the following years. I also didn't like the chemistry of the duo and the staging at all.

If Duncan (or his team) decide to do a similar staging it would be a reason for me not to vote for it. Please no more black and white bleak and sad stagings! (I just hope Israel won't do black and white, like in the video)
