One very emotional person here claims that Duncan is very arrogant saying he already won and nobody comes close to him

Complete nonsense. In this interview Duncan is very humble and there is nothing arrogant about him. He is relieved and happy the reception of his song is so good. The interviewer asks if he wants to go for the win and then he answers of course yes, but that is it Europe who decides that. He doesn't mention any other artist or country at all.

Odalis he definitely did not say that he already won and that nobody comes close to him. The person that interviewed him said he is number 1 in the bookmakers of all released songs. And he said he does think he can win it and that he will go for it, its his goal. But who goes to a competition to lose? He also said he's not really nervous despite being new in the industry, not to perform live or to perform in front of a big audience, he said that is gonna be ok.

Some people might take it as arrogance, I just think he seems very confident and personally think that's not a bad trait though I will keep my eye on him from now on!

Btw I'm not biased, I don't even like the song but those specific claims are false. 'One very emotional person' says it all I guess

Well, he’s first in the odds to win so is it really arrogant to say that ‘he believes it is possible’? Anything is possible really and Duncan winning is nog that long of a shot it seems at the moment.

In all the interviews I saw with Duncan he comes across very sweet, humble, realistic and quite funny, even if all the media coverage is new for him. Everyone in the Netherlands seem to like him

Oh and very sorry to say, I'm sure it's already been said but it seems Duncan is already taken! He is happily in a relationship with his boyfriend, who is someone that prefers to stay away from the spotlight which is why we won't see them together (much)

They want the fake:
"Oh nooo Staahp it, I won't win cmon'
From 99% of the artists lol he handles interviews really well, there's nothing wrong with saying you're opting for that win. If you enter a competition without that goal then it's weird to me tbh!

Tumblr, mostly.
Please. If you think "I could win Eurovision" is arrogant, take a look at Belgium because we showcased a true masterclass in complacency last year:

"WE WILL BE TOP FIVE IN THE FINALE BECAUSE OUR SONG IS BETTER THAN EVERYONE ELSE'S, WORSHIP PEASANTS AND IF YOU DON'T IT'S BECAUSE *YOU* HAVE SHIT TASTE"
::literally did NOTHING during the preshow because they assumed they'd get qualification served on a silver platter, then fucking flop because they never even bothered rehearsing before flying out to Lesbon::

Yes, Duncan can win. Acknowledging that is not arrogant. It's realistic. He is first with the bookmakers, after all. Arrogance would be assuming you have it in the bag before the contest started and that's not what's going on here.

In other news, I read that De Telegraaf pegged Hatari as his biggest competition... It's Happening.

He didn't even say he could win. He said (paraphrasing here): Of course we are trying to win, with the message and music, that way we can hopefully win, but it is Europe who chooses.
(At the time of the interview Russia was still in the lead at the odds by the way.)

For me Duncan does not come across as arrogant, but the other people in the media however do. It annoys me a lot. He just said: "Yes of course I would like to win and I will do my best, but only with the messsage of the music. And then Europe decides."

Then these other people: "Good that he talks about winning. He thinks he will win." And then: "Yes, but that is not weird, since we are second in the odds." He did not even say that and they talk like we can already start planning the next year. But Duncan and the people surrounding them are actually way more humble and realistic and don't think he will win it that easily. He even was critized by one Dutch guy in the media for not being confident enough...

I think - or hope - those responders are all young children who don't know how to behave on the internet yet and have way too much time on their hands, because I see the same people doing that in every song I have watched so far. But then again, Dutch people respond as harshly when they're saying they don't like the Dutch entry too. Maybe some of us are just plain rude.
