I wouldn't expect too much tbh. In an interview he said it won't be different from what he has done before.

I'm guessing the betters learned nothing from Armenia

Here's a novel idea: What till the song comes out first, then bet

Haha so true! My first thought was, oh the song probably already released, but no song, not even news about Douwe. Some people really have money to blow or are just addicted... xfacepalm

That's exactly what I thought! I even asked on the other forum if I missed anything

Armenia had a big upswing shortly before their song reveal too and now it appears their having regrets about it so their turning their hopes to the Netherlands. Even though we know absolutely nothing about the song besides who singing it

Tomorrow the song will be presented in Amsterdam around 11.20, this presentation will be streamed via periscope. They're pretty vague about the way it will be presented, so maybe it will be in a special way. (Probably not, knowing AVROTROS) We can hear the song around 11.30 for the first time at NPO Radio 2. The videoclip will be online around 12.00 at Songfestival.nl, but probably also at Youtube at some point.

Let's hope for a great song! :D

You guys do know that the betting odds prices don't only reflect what the people bet on, it also reflects who the betting markets themselves expect to do well...

Re: THE NETHERLANDS 2016 - Douwe Bob

Guys, the bookmakers use Betfair as their guide to pricing up the ESC markets & the people who set the odds on the Betfair exchange are every day people investing money in the Eurovision market. The prices you see are a product of the amount of money being wagered. The only way in which the odds compilers working for the bookmakers try and use their skill is in offering a slightly bigger price on a country the odds compiler thinks he or she can get beaten, ie, the odds compiler wants to attract customers to back this country because he or she believes it will not win.

Similarly, if a bookmaker is offering the lowest price on a country, it is either because they respect its chances greatly and are not keen to lay it ('lay' means to take the bets of customers wanting to back that country) and/or they have already taken bets on it at bigger prices and have enough of a liability on it winning already. This is partly what has happened with Betfred this year who led the way among the bookmakers pricing up the whole Eurovision market win-only. It was offering 66-1 Poland early on, then cut to 33-1, & now you see it is 7-2. Betfred would have taken bets at those bigger odds so they are now running for cover on Poland, and the other bookies have followed their lead.
