Well, if a song has a hook, it's not good. That's the rule, and that is why Warrior or Children of the Universe are hyped and Walk Along is bashed.

Still going on about Molly eh?

When did this become about Children Of The Universe?

She just sang the song on the voice of Holland and I got a huge headache from it. :p

It is not as bad as I expected, but still pretty bad, hehe. I instantly loved birds and CATS, but this is not my type of song.

Is there a video of her singing it on the voice?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JO1cqzPWrVI When I first heard it, I found "whyayayay," as I said in my review, "profoundly annoying." However, it's much less so here. I wonder if I can revote it to up my vote to 8/10 points.

Doesn't catch my attention at all.

Yup, I know this is her first performance and it's just on a tv show but it doesn't have an impact. It's something you'd hear on the radio and it would just pass you by. A great voice doesn't elevate it because the song itself doesn't go anywhere.

Then again, we've had songs that have won that have been very bog standard such as "Running Scared" and "Only Teardrops". Who knows what will happen with "Walk Along"? I'm starting to think now though that this could really struggle. Something needs to be done to it and I don't quite know what. It is as many have pointed out, an incredibly repetitive song. "Birds" was a haunting and unusual piece for the contest. "Calm After The Storm" although a very standard piece of country pop, had an audience. It did stick out and was beautifully staged. It's hard to make predictions especially at such an early stage, the Dutch could be in trouble though.

Hmm, it's ok. It was always going to be difficult to do a better song than 'Calm After The Storm', I loved CATS as soon as I heard it for the first time (a small minority at the time) but 'Walk Along' is just so-so.

I think that this song could surprise. Fair enough it is very repetitive, but the repetition makes the 'why-ay-ay-ay' hook super-memorable. I imagine it'll stick in the audience's minds throughout the show. I definitely think this song will at least make the final and possibly the top 15, but as others have said it is hard to predict at this early stage :)

It's exactly how I feel. It feels like it could even be passed off as a junior eurovision entry. It is very radio friendly and that is where it begins and end. They need to do some serious work on this song in order to give it a chance, if they go early in the running order of the semi finals then I don't think that they will actually qualify. xshrug

The whyayayay walk along baby part is actually played 10 times in the song. As each of those takes around 11 seconds, about 110 seconds of the song is the chorus/hook/whatever repeating. That's means over 60% of the song is actually this 1 short sentence.

I am going to guess that even Finland 1998 didn't spend that much time repeating 1 sentence.

Can't agree. The live performance has started to convince me this could be a real contender. It gave me something the studio version didn't. Now, If I could just figure out what it was...

Oh, and how dare you compare the fantastic Only Teardrops to the generic garbage that was Running Scared sir. Even from you, this nonsense shall not be tolerated.

Wow, I hate when I get logged out while typing a post ......

Well then, again, the live performance today was unpleasantly underwhelming. The acoustics were uncomfortably itchy and pain-inducing, her charisma well hidden beneath too much botox and she acted like she didn't know where to go/where to look/where to flip her hair next. That was far from self-confident albeit not on Eurovision.

With such a performance, they will go down in flames, but thank God there's plenty of time left to fix this song, which I still love so much and which I want to do well.

Only Teardrops was even more generic than Running Scared because it was not even a real pop song, but something that was created by formula in a Eurovision lab - there was too much cliché in that song to force it to win.......

Don't get me started. The amount times I've accidentally closed the page while typing a lengthy post from my mobile - especially right near the end of it.
