Have been checking the detailed voting results on Eurovision Song Contest - Copenhagen 2014, and Netherlands seems to have done better in televote than in jury vote. Who would've thougth that.

f.e. Malta: televoters put Netherlands in 5th place, jury 25th.
Belgium: Televote 2nd place, jury 8th place (Austria 2nd in jury vote)
Austria: Televote 1st place, jury 7th place
Denmark: Televote 1st place, jury 3rd. (Austria second in jury vote)
Iceland: Televote 1st place, jury 3rd (Austria second in jury vote)
Ireland: Televote 2nd place (Autstria 3rd), jury 3rd, (austria 1st)
Montenegro: Televote 9th, jury 18th
Romania: televote 3rd, jury 11th (
Spain: Televote 3rd, jury 10th (Austria 2nd)
UK: Televote 2nd (Austria 3rd), jury 7th (Austria 3rd)

I'd love to see :nl: winning anytime soon, but so much the better if it's Ilse & Waylon in a potential glorious comeback xlove

This was really, ridiculously well-filmed. Ilse and Waylon looked like they were in their own personal movie instead of on the Eurovision stage.

The Netherlands are climbing with quality entries. Maybe next year it is time for a winning entry?!?!?!?

I don't think we will win anytime soon. This was our winning entry. The performance was great and that's what made this song stand out. But we're normally not that great with performances. So I don't think we will be doing this well next year.

But oh well, who knows. Maybe it's AMSTERDAM 2016 after all. :D

Who would've thought that the Netherlands would be so close to winning in these days?!

And more surprising - finishing SECOND on televote with this song, (better than THIRD with juries)!

Well done Europe, I'm impressed xheart

And to think 2 years ago people in the Dutch thread were banging their heads on the wall believing things would never get better and here we are 2 years later and the Netherlands has a top 10 and top 2 result....things change very fast

anyway, why they cut to green room after their postcard,
not directly to show their act ?

They were still preparing the stage, because of that stupid flag of Denmark they couldn't do it in time. XD

I think this made them in the beginning a bit nervous, because they sounded a bit off.

I'm so glad we didn't win with such an undeserving bland song. Still not sure what anybody sees in this. Anyway Ilse has had like 100 exactly similar sounding pulp hits over here over the past 10 years, so you new fans can knock yourselves out. ;)

I still can't believe it ended up so incredible well on the scoreboard. This is one of those songs that's usually considered "a hidden gem", which ends up at the end of the second half, and then afterwards considered underrated "should of placed higher" etc. But this time, it made it to a second place. That is indeed cool. It really deserved it, because the performance was very clean, minimalistic, but at the same time cool. It worked well without explosions, thousands of effects and gimmicks. Like last year's "Birds" it contained that minimalistic "naked" style of performance. There's some deep sincerity to many a songs from the Netherlands, and they deserve all credit. The lyrics are absolutely brilliant. Too good to be wasted on some circus like Eurovision. Timeless tune.

Cheers.

So so pleased for Ilse and Waylon, we as a country needed this after all those years of not qualifying with sometimes horrible entries. The enthousiasm for the contest is back and this is our best result since 1975 so something we can be very proud of :D

I'm disappointed they didn't win, but at the same time, I think this will be better for them in a long run. It's a quality song, no doubt, and the fact that it didn't win will only make people appreciate it more. Mark my words this will be the song most remembered from this year, and not the winning one.
