First reaction is that much like (ironically) Austria last year, it kind of gives me the vibe that it's trying to be "clever". Like constantly looking into the camera and mugging, "oooh now I'm rapping, now I'm singing opera". But it doesn't feel interesting in its genre-mixing like Käärijä did.

I don't think this is an anti-English language bias either for me. If I divorced the two different halves of Cha Cha Cha I still them interesting and enjoyable. While with this song I don't think the normal chorus hits me particularly hard, the rap part is giving Jenny B (I wouldn't call the lyrics or rhyming patterns for that part clever), the popera feels forced. All the genre-mixing seems to be there for shock-value, like they first decided "I want to make something really fun and wacky" and worked backwards from there, instead of it being in service of the song if that makes sense?

Hopefully the staging could push me into thinking this is okay. Will be interesting to see what the juries think of this.

Tumblr, mostly.
The Swiss song is defo...toy meets cha cha cha meets rise like a phoenix, in terms of intent.

Hate the operatic jumble at the start, solidly love the second half

Will need a few more listens to decide the score (currently i'm out and on my phone), but this could be a dark horse fave of they perform it appropriately.

One of my issues with this is that after about 30 seconds it turns into a Gjon's Tears song, just with someone going ham on it and a bit of drum and bass sprinkled on top. It's all too much without offering a juicy piece of music to make the exhaustion you experience worthwhile. How can something be so tacky and also very much vanilla at the same time? Somehow The Code manages it. An over the top entry that feels targeted at those who don't usually like them (watch the jury points come in). I tried my best with the song, experiencing it several times but each listen I cringed a little whilst still finding myself unable to pinpoint a part I can say with honesty that I enjoyed.

And for that reason it gets a middling-tastic :5: points from me.

Now this is how you do a chaotic entry in the same vibe as Cha Cha Cha. Its fun, its not forced and cringy.

This basically sums it up for me, it's done very well. Feels like it COULD be a contender for the win if it is executed properly on stage. Out of the "crazy" songs released, this is way way better than Finland, Estonia, Ireland.

Its odds are shortening already.

And what "The Code" has over Finland, Estonia or Ireland (or Croatia to throw that in) is Jury appeal. If Nemo delivers those vocals and their staging is good - this is a very likely Jury top 3, if not winner. And with a great staging, it'll appeal to plenty of viewers too.

Not a "OMG clear winner!", bcs it's so so so dependant on the live, but absolutely a contender at this point.

It has potential but the operatic part is damn annoying. Seems like Olly has a direct competitor here. It's nice Switzerland finally shakes things up this year, but this song is just not for me. Giving this a :4:. Would have been higher if the operatic part is less annoying.

I agree. I really hope that Nemo has a vision how to stage this - and hopefully they will deliver vocals as well. In this sense it could actually go either way, but I keep my fingers crossed for them to do justice to this song!

Yeah, I like this one!
I really like their voice, the production is fire and if they are able to pull this off live, it can give Switzerland a great result!
The song is borderline on being too fragmented though but it still work for me, it feels intentionally chaotic.
My only real negative here are the lyrics which seem a little too contrived for me.

I like this a lot! The very first slowed down chorus is my favorite part, melodic. I also like the rap part. You know what, I also like the rest. :10:
I fear that the staging is going to be a disaster and all over the place. If that's not the case, well, I wouldn't mind it winning actually.

Question for the Western Swiss: who are your top artists? I swear, everytime I turn on the radio (Rouge, LFM, Radio Chablais, Couleur 3, Radio Lac) I hear the exact same songs as in France. We already broadcast some French-speaking Swiss artists, so I know to expect them, but I also expected to make new discoveries?
