After listening to this song for about 20 times, I hear references to James Bond opening songs, Queen of the Night, Bohemian Rapsody, I Am A Marionette, and other stuff. And this is to me the main message of the song - diverse musical genres reunited in a fluid manner just like diverse societal genders can be fluidly reunited in one person. In other words, the song reflects the non-binary nature of the singer.

After many euphoric comments on ESC kompakt I finally listened to the song. Well, sadly I have to be the party crasher.

It´s an interesting entry but for me there´s just too much going on there. It starts as a normal pop song, then goes into a rap part and then he starts singing an opera?? I was actually more confused than impressed to be honest. xstars

Another issue is Nemos voice which I still can´t get really into, only in the rap part it was kinda pleasant for me.

In the end I give :ch: a :5:, I like that the country is trying something different instead of sending yet another sad ballad but it´s simply not my cup of tea really. Making a prediction is really difficult here, this could either be a suprising contender for the win or the FFF of the year. xthink

After a second listening I have to downgrade it to 6 points. This song is just a big mess. I think most viewers will be confused. Still it could be a successful entry with a good staging. For sure we will see it in the final.

The song is annoying in parts. The rap is good. Him in general annoys me I don't know why - he just has no appeal to me. I have the same attitude towards Nicole scherzinger I just cannot take to her either

Today, after buying a gift for my girlfriend, I realize that the Swiss song had been made official. Before listening to an ESC song I go to read the reactions in various forums to get an idea. In the Spanish forum (not EscYOUnited's Spain Thread) many were talking about "TEMAZO!". Curious I go to YouTube and start listening to the song. My expression was a resounding "Wtf!" and then "This is the TEMAZO?". I recognize that "The Code" has a structure a bit... like Rose Villain's "Click Boom" (in short, it is a song that hides several songs, different rhythms and vocal approaches) and I recognize that it is more or less original. However it lacks rhythm because it takes you too fast without properly mixing them from a Mika-style uvula hit, to an operatic approach to Rap... I read someone who said that here are the extremes to compare "The Code" to " Cha Cha Cha"... are we serious? It lacks the same epicness. Absolutely. With "Cha Cha Cha" it may have in common that, like Käärijää, the Swiss singer will not be able to replicate his studio performance on stage. It's a pretty ambitious song. If only Switzerland could avoid a miserable show like "Halo" was and the singer be technically impeccable it could capture the jury and some sympathy from the public. So far I vote 6. I want to deviate from the usual euphoria of the fandom after the release of the songs and I want to avoid entering the circle of those who overrate it mercilessly.

I'm not thrilled by this. I listened to it this morning, and then again just now and I remember basically nothing of it other than some random operatic moment? It's 3 minutes of mishmatched genres thrown together and it's all a bit dramatic and such. It just feels too much and over the top and having little to no pay off. I don't hate it, and I can see on a surface level why people like it but this just a whole lot of nothing for me. :3:

It will be interesting to see if he can control his falsetto on stage. Since most fail in that respect, I have given this song a 4.

If they want to be getting anywhere near top 5 the staging will need to be superb from the Swiss delegation. I don't see it at the moment.

One time I was at my usual karaoke spot and asked the host/my friend to put in "Decode" by Paramore for me. As he typed it in, I could see him typing in "The Code," which I gently informed him wasn't the song I was after when nothing came up. Here in the US we have a baseball team called the New York Mets, whose fans are often parodied as saying "let's go Mets baby love de Mets," so when I got up to sing, I said "let's go code baby love de code," which I now say every time before I sing it as a lil inside joke between me and the host.

That's all I've got; this is fine for the first minute then really annoying. 3 points.

The problem with the song is that it has so many different parts that it is almost impossible to like the whole song. Like for me there are two parts in the song I really dont like.

That’s how many Eurovision songs are these years. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. It worked well for Finland last year.

And Israel was even worse, there were at least five parts in it. Still got a 3rd place because Noa was excellent
And Eden Alene, too (in 2021)! In most cases I don’t like this kind of disjointedness. But sometimes those songs are saved by one strong hook.

I love this! Yet another song by a curly-haired young guy from Switzerland which I cannot help but enjoy immensely. The best newly released song of this week so far, for me anyway!

Tumblr, mostly.
Gave it a few more listens. This could go hard live if Switz know what they're doing. I'm very excited for it! Have a generous :8: points.
