I mention Gustaph because they are the same age, Gustaphs outfit is seen as a bit eccentric by many but not for reasons of not fitting his age.

We aren't going to agree here but Im sure the consensus on here on Sunday is that Sober will look very weird for someone in the 40s, her gender has absolutely nothing to do with being cringey id be saying the exact same thing if it were a man singing a song like sober with the same staging and styling at the age of 43.

Why do some eurofans get so weird about women, not everything is misogyny!
I never accused you of misogyny? I even stated men get the same treatment.

And we certainly agree that this whole act is cringe. But what I'm saying is that this staging, song and styling is cringe on its own. It's not her age that makes this cringe. Everyone would be cringy doing that.
Making it about age isn't necessary because it sets weird made up boundaries what's "appropriate" for certain ages, when that just shouldn't matter.

Cherine's staging was "different from the norm" at eurosong, it recieved almost universial criticism for being cringe and junior eurovision-like for the performance of the song by a 29 year old that doesnt make the people who didnt like it socially conservative, seriously listen to yourself

Image
I mean... would your opinion change if this was performed by a child? I would still call it cringe and creepy. Look at that fucking flower, oh god. The nightmare fuel.
Does anyone actually like this made up pastel "childfriendly" stuff? I don't even know children that likes it. It's adults that made up this creepy stuff that is supposed to appeal to children but it's just so uncanny.

What happened to Melodifestivalen stage?

Until 2019, it was competing with Eurovision, but now it's just a generic national final stage.
Yeah it bothers me sooo much. Everything looks so fucking cheap. No surprising the ratings drop as well.
Why did they lower the budget of one of their most viewed shows?!

If Laurell's styling didn't come off as forced, people wouldn't have any issues. She is giving "how do you do, fellow kids"

I dont remember her ever dressing like that, but suddenly for Mello she seems like she is gone through extreme Cazzi-Opeiafication, but at least with Cazzi that was her style, I don't think this is Laurell's style...

M&M look great actually. I feel like if the Tattoo rumours are true, it might clash with Air.

With that being said, one promising rehearsal doesn't take away from the fact that this NF is as mid as it gets.

I'll also praise Laurell Barker. Her live vocals aren't as grating as the studio snippet.

You dont know anything about me
You can’t show your opinion on something and then be like ”you don’t know anything about me!”. Actually, I do, because you’re showing me/us, you’re expressing your values. That argument is childish

You called me socially conservative because I think Laurell’s song and staging is cringey for a 43 year old, if you look at how it’s being received I don’t think it’s me that’s in the minority here

As much as Laurell's staging is completely bizarre and out of place, I still can't get over the brilliant lyrics in Paul Rey's entry

We can be royals
We can be legends
If I was king for a day
I would treat you royally

What a poetic king

Based on snippets :

Paul Rey : blah, bland, expected more from him
Casanovas : Very cute song, I like it
Melanie Wehbe : Really liking this one, hyped to listen to song in full
Nordman : Not sure what to think about it, sounded okay
Laurell : What the bloody hell is this
IDA-LOVA : Lovely song, not really competitive but I really like it
Marcus & Martinus : Blaaaaaaaaaah, this sounds so bland

I just can't stop thinking that Casanovas' song should have been performed by Linda Bengtzing! The guy sings it and I'm "hearing" Linda's voice in my mind. She could have turned it in her turbo schlager! Man what a missed chance!

Some quick thoughts about the stagings:
Paul Rey: Sub-par Måns Zelmerlöw ripoff, yawn.
Casanovas: Rape-child of Barbados-style "modern dansband" and a Linda Bengtzing reject song, no thanks.
Melanie Wehbe: Great staging and charisma, actually seems like something some country might send to Eurovision, which doesn't mean i like it. But she could do better than expected, AC possible.
Nordman: Actually better than i expected in performance. My heart's really not in with the completely non-Swedish music style depicted as somehow being traditionally Swedish in some undefinable way, but somehow it works for what it is, and AC or even DTF is possible.
Laurell: Low key stanning this now, all the obvious flaws just make me want to vote for it even more. AC could be possible
Ida Lova: Undefinable and forgettable.
Marcus & Martinus: Definitely possible winner. It's like the best of "Dance You Off", "Every Moment", "Boys With Emotions" and "Bluffin". It's youthful and flashy, but serious and substantial in the same way. Staging looks incredible and it's a definite contender.

Ida-Lova is Lovad 2.0 by the looks of it. Only difference being Ida-Lova is a decade younger. Nordman were a huge fan favorite back in 2008 with I lågornas sken (can be seen below). This is their long awaited return to Melfest. The snippet might not be showing the full potential of the song. I'm still optimistic.

Ah, so after I've seen the snippets I'm sure the production favourites are actually Loreen and M&M, not Maria.
Their staging they have is on another level to everything that everyone else got.

Let's see what they'll give Loreen.

  4. Melanie Wehbe (9.8 %)

Best to look away if you are a Laurell Barker stan.

Is she even an actual singer. I know she can hold a tune, but is she known as a performer in her own right? I really thought she was a songwriter and didn't perform, save for maybe demos for the songs she writes.

That song turned out to be a minor hit in :de: (don´t ask me why).

Personally, I think that the tone of her voice is terrible...
