No need to apologize
'Cause there’s nothing to regret
Well, this is not what I wanted
Guess all the good things come to an end

So baby bye, bye
Wish you the best
But most of alI I wish that I could love you less
Well, maybe you're right
I'll find someone else
You say it isn't me, but when did that ever help?

Hold me closer
Although you'll leave before the sunrise
I'll be bleeding, but don't you mind, I'll be fine
Oh, it kills me
I found the right one at the wrong time
But until the sunrise
Hold tight, hold tight

Maybe it happened too fast
I guess that I understand
You say that you've never felt this way for anyone
And that's why it scares you to death

So baby bye, bye
Know it's for the best
Still I can't see how that would ease the pain in my chest

Hold me closer
Although you'll leave before the sunrise
I'll be bleeding, but don't you, mind I'll be fine
Oh, it kills me
I found the right one at the wrong time
But until the sunrise
Could you just hold me tight?
I know, I have to let go, but just give me the night

'Cause tomorrow will hurt
Hurt really bad
'Cause I’m about to lose the best I ever had

Hold me closer
Although you'll leave before the sunrise
I'll be bleeding, but don't you mind, I'll be fine
Oh, it kills me
I found the right one at the wrong time
But until the sunrise
Could you just hold me tight?
I know, I have to let go, but just give me the night (Hold me tight, hold me tight)

Can't you see that you found the right one at the wrong time?
It was just the wrong time
Hold tight, hold tight

This is very different from the songs Sweden used to send in recent years and I'm pleasantly surprised. I've gotten tired of the sterile plastic and the virtue signaling that Sweden chose to contribute in the last few years.

I think it's a very pleasant song. 10 points.

I think she should use her full surname tbh, but ok I get Jakobs is easier. But what is silly is the English pronunciation, not the short version. Like you're Swedish, just drop it lol
You know what, I'm totally confused now..
Her full name is Anna Cornelia Jakobsdotter Samuelsson, her father'e name and surname (I dunno what is name what surname though lmao ) is Jakob Samuel..
So Jakobsdotter means she is a daughter of Jakob, and why Samuelsson?? She is also a son of Samuel?? 🤣🤣🤣

Is there any :uk: board members that see the striking resemblance between Cordelia and our TV presenter, Emma Willis?

THANK YOU - it's been bugging me for weeks!

As for the song - meh, it's not bad, but it's just there for me and I think it'll be middle of the pack with so many other more unique offerings going around (weird that so many people think it's an overly ballad-heavy year this year, as I think there's a decent variety...)

:4: for now...

A really nice song from Sweden, I like!
With some improved staging (I don't like the staging from Melodifestivalen) and a solid performance, this could do really well in Turin.

I can't believe that I love an entry of Sweden so much that I would love it to win! Sweden is (next to Ukraine) the only country in the current top 10 of the odds that I love. In case Ukraine shouldn't take the trophy, please let it be Sweden! xrose

Samuelsson is the surname that has been in the family for generations, back in old times the fathers named their sons fathername+son and daughters fathername+dotter. A son got it at one point from a father Samuel. These old son-names in particular has become normal surnames in today's Sweden and a large portion of our surnames end with "son" because they originated from somewhere between the 1100s - 1800s and have since been passed down as people don't use patronymics anymore.

Jakobsdotter is a name she got from her father because she is the daughter of Jakob. This is very uncommon in modern Sweden. I believe they still use this way of naming in Iceland for example, but why her parents chose to give her this name I can not answer.

All her three siblings are just called Samuelsson, no Jakobsdotter or Jakobsson, so I would guess Cornelia has added Jakobsdotter herself? Maybe in honour of her father, or she just thought the old-fashioned -dotter names sound cool? :)

Uuh... I’m not Swedish, but I was born there. The suffix -dotter is fairly common as a middle (or third) name. In this case Jakobsdotter is her third given name (Jakob’s daughter). Samuelsson is the family’s surname, and as pointed out already, probably from several generations ago.

As a surname -son or -dotter typically does not mean that you are the child of a person with that name, while that is still common in Iceland.

There are 21 persons with the given name Jakobsdotter in Sweden. There are a few in Finland as well, but so few that they can’t give the exact amount. The Finnish Jaakontytär (daughter of Jaakko) is one of the given names of roughly 60 finns.

E.g. Larsdotter is a more common given name with 1629 in Sweden, since Lars is one of the more common male names overall.

I still do not get it cause her father's name is Jakob Samuel, and she got both Samuelsson and Jakobsdotter.. it is like she is two persons and got the surname from both her father's name and his surname (if that is name and surname at all) lmao  plus both are different, one is Dotter like she is daughter and other one is son like she is a son.. :D

Now that I'm over being a sore loser like us Aries are (and it lasts for 5 minutes too), I have to say this is rather nice indeed. The lyrics in particular are very good, kind of like a throwback to Save Tonight by Eagle-Eye Cherry, a song I really, really love.
