In this year's Melodifestivalen I wanted ANYONE to win but Frans. Ok not Wiktoria either! But I can totally see why he scored so high. Less is more worked perfectly for the host country and the song stood out.

Great performance by Frans and a well-deserved 5th place. One of the better results for a hosting nations since the introduction of televoting. As expected, no flop there.

You really think people pick up and vote for songs they dislike or don't 'find interesting, even if it is Sweden?

Come on. Lets not patronise people. This song had A LOT of exposure. It was the only Eurovision song this year I heard about 10 times on UK Music Channels. It was stripped back and simple, but at the same time contemporary. It was a song people either loved or hate, and I can absolutely understand why it did well.

Nothing was good with this song. I was expecting bottom for Sweden. "I'm sorry" that got to much points

This comment is ridiculous.

Yes Sweden is Europe's biggest music nation rigth now..BUT obviously people liked the SONG.

After his performance yesterday he was nr 1 on iTunes in several European countries. At that moment I actually thought he would be in top 3 with televote.

But a 5th place is really good and well deserved. Sweden is proud and our good record in ESC continues.

2011: 3rd
2012: 1st
2013: Host 14th (3rd with jury)
2014: 3rd
2015: 1st
2016: Host 5th

:)

And now the day after the final Ukraine obviously doing best on iTunes since they won, but Frans is right after. Impressive.

It actually really doesn't matter how much "haters" a song has. They are not the ones who will vote for it, for example I also think Conchita had plenty of haters, but she still won. I think the one sided fan view is way to strong here, if we look outside the fan bubble I think this is actually a contender for the win for the generic viewer. My family and girlfriend all really liked the preview and I still think it's a good song and different enough to stand out despite being low key. I'll make the prediction Sweden will end up top 5 easily, although it probably won't win, I'm very afraid this "honor" will go to Russia.

Well I was mostly right
Deserved 5th place, all the haters on this forum have bitten the dust. And no, it's not because it's sweden, I'ts just a very good song.

and now its the most downloaded song on itunes in the world ! this is seriously the only song with any sort of impact beyond the eurovision. you haters can celebrate the win of a shrieking non entity, but the true winner is frans whos actually getting a career out of this

I'm a little bit split on this. I was expecting Sweden to have a low placement this year, but I actually do like the song and can understand why it did so well. It stood out between all the other songs around it for being stripped back. Still surprised at how high it ended though, but well done Sweden.

Surprised that it finished 5th... But Spain finished 22nd and Estonia last. So these surprises will always haunt Eurovision I suppose :)

From BBC, Interview with their commenter Graham Norton:

Do you have anything special planned when it comes to song number 9?

Yes indeed! For those who aren’t aware song number nine is famous because Sir Terry always warned me not to have anything to drink until that point. During song number nine this year the host country Sweden will be performing and I will be encouraging everyone to raise a glass. It has all worked out very nicely as Swedish people in the arena will be cheering their song in the stadium as everyone back in the UK will join me and say cheers to the memory and legacy of Sir Terry Wogan.

Why didn't the swedish guy in 2013 eurovision place higher then if Sweden always finishes high because its sweden? Frans song appeals to the wider public out there which is why its charting enough said.

Wow when I said he will profit from being the only Scandinavian entrant in the final I didn't actually think it will be THIS kind of profit :lol; Imo, although he performed the song nicely enough, it is definetly overrated. I would place him somewhere from 10th to 15th place.

However it probably isn't as clever as may seem, I believed when I heard her saying it, she meant to literary translate the Swedish saying

"Finns det hjärterum finns det stjärterum"

"Where there's a will, there's a way" or "If there is love, there is room" or literary "if there's room in the heart, there's room for the butt (to sit)"

not twisting it.
