Re: SWEDEN 2014

Say that to the MF team and SVT that hates everything Swedish and only reserve joke entries or entries with no chance to Swedish

Trolling as usual? :( Pretty pointless comment as you very well know that SVT sends the contribution selected in Melodifestivalen. Songs in Swedish are common in Melodifestivalen as well, so what is the problem really?

Stop projecting with the troll thing ;)

Yes there are songs in Swedish: joke acts and pointless additions...

Never serious contenders however...

Re: SWEDEN 2014

To be fair, there was only one serious contender in 2012.

This year you had Copacabanana (which sounds very much like Only Teardrops BTW) and En riktig jävla schlager in the final. Don't know if there were any "serious" songs in Swedish in the semis because I only watched the final.

Re: SWEDEN 2014

what do you guys of Sweden sending Roomie.....

You mean these guys?
Or it seems to be more or less Joel Berghult in Gothenburg. Apparently unsigned and exclusively using YouTube.

To me, this is very American classic rock. Sounds skilled and driven and he has got a good voice. My tip is it will have a very hard time passing through Melodifestivalen though.

That's almost an understatement! :D

No, I never got the real grip of this year's Melodifestivalen either.

Well, that is a question about taste really. Of course there are joke acts and of course they are in Swedish. To me it's pretty obvious why the joke acts are added and it has nothing todo with "hate everything Swedish" as you put it. If they upset you ... well ... hmm :D

No, it's the way that they treat entries in Swedish... I don't care if there are some joke acts in Swedish, but the way that all entries in Swedish that they pick are either jokes or entries that doesn't stand a chance or entries given to acts that doesn't stand a chance...

I doubt out of all the submitted songs, all the Swedish ones are crap... it's obvious they want to limit the chances of Swedish in the contest and highlight the ones in English...

Oh, and then there's the yearly friend-nepotism...

As the selection process is secret and all involved parties (SVT, songwriters, artists, record companies) surely want it to remain like that, we'll never know the criteria used. I agree that this should be made public in the future - perhaps with hidden/anonymous writers. But I also see the enormous difficulties with author rights, copy protection etc.

I just read that 10 years ago, the only record companies willing to send songs to Melodifestivalen were Mariann Grammofon (Bert Karlsson) and Lionheart Music Group. Just imagine what kind of material it was back then. ;)

Atleast the songs in Swedish back then were better than now

And MF is still dated, it just changed its form a bit crossing over from pure schlager to some milked down (schlager) pop...

Tbh, I think I'd even prefer schlager over most of the stuff we get now... Yes, there are some good stuff... but the last MF where I liked most entries was probably in 2005 or something. 2007 was also rather strong I recall.

It's not point with only have bad songs in Swedish when they translate the text when something in Swedish win the melodifestivalen.

Helena Paparizou - Save Me (This is an SOS), single release: 2013-05-29 Lionheart Music Group

Helena Paparizou returns to Sweden, releases single and signs with Lionheart Music Group! xcheerxcheer

returns to Sweden probably shouldn't be taken literally.
