OMG NO....

i feel like god is trolling me so hard on purpose considering last year and this year. TWO FKING POINTS!!!!!!

considering ACE has 3 top 10 hits in germany as a songwriter and that was the country who gave her 0 points. OMFG.

once again ESC will suck hard.

Well, I love M.I.A. and most people would say it's just noise... the "no melody" comment is based, imo, on a conventional idea about what music is. But I guess it's just about taste in the end of the day...

My guess is you hate the Polish entry too (which is probably my favorite this year)?
It has nothing to do with what's conventional. Like I said, I don't let "outside forces" (such as trends, or in this case conventions) dictate what I like. It's all about taste for me and I can't help what music I like and what music I don't like. If a melody is not to my fancy then I can't bring myself to like the song no matter how modern or fresh the sound is, how creative the lyrics are or whatever. It will still be a crap song to me if the tune sucks.

I can't remember if I've listened to Poland's entry or not, but if it's anything like Ace, then I'm sure I don't like it.

M.I.A.'s stuff is in a different league to "Busy Doin Nothing" which was tailored made for Melodifestivalen and the charts in general. That girl has some really freaky cool, experimental stuff.

I don't hear Ace's song as being tailor-made to MF, I really don't...

I didn't really compare her to M.I.A. though, I just picked M.I.A. as an example of someone who people who argue that Ace's song had no melody would probably hate...

But it's about taste, I like melodious stuff aswell, but I also like different quirky rap-talk stuff and stuff that isn't conventionally regarded as "music" ...

AAAAAA CAN'T BELIEVE THIS RIGHT NOW! I'M SO HAPPY! Never would've thought I'd cheer for Sanna Nielsen but it happened. :'D Too bad Alcazar didn't win but ok. :D 12 points!!! :D Such a great ballad, and that's coming from a person that doesn't like ballads that much. :D

Ace Wilder congratulated Sanna afterwards, having a very calm and acceptable approach about coming 2nd. Very good sportmanship on her part.

Also, I'm glad she didn't turned her teeth into "the perfect hollywood smile", instead keeping her real teeth, perhaps maybe did some whitening. That makes her more natural. I can understand that so many love her. Who wouldn't?

I'm glad that Alcazar proved the haterz wrong and were able to score a great place with the juries. They are my personal winners and nothing will ever change that. BTW, to the Sanna haterz...

I LOVE MELODIFESTIVALEN!
2 points... oh my God!
I'm VERY VERY VERY GLAD that Ace didn't win. She had the worst song in my opinion.
Sanna was one of the best. I am happy that she won!
But one thing disappointed me. Panetoz - why so low...? :(

I couldn't believe that Ace was 1st in the jury, really!
It seemed so strange...

Why would a trend in one country reflect decision of pack that were in the jury?

I don't let the outside dictate my taste either xshrug

Of course it's about taste and I never said anything else, but what I meant is that there is a general conventional idea about music consisting of sung verses - sung bridge - sung chorus... which belongs to the more "traditional" school of music so to speak... this doesn't have a "sung" chorus and therefor people liking the more, well, conventional idea will probably find this annoying.

The Polish entry is a mix of hip-hop, R&B and folk... you'd probably hate it

In all seriousness though, was this the closest vote ever or was there a one point difference or tie in the past?

I don't remember but this is the closest that I can recall (if we count the newer MF editions that is).

Melodifestivalen is a pop music contest. You bringing up M.I.A. who is a really great artist in her genre, it just makes me realise how safe Ace's song is.

I understand where you are coming from though. Some of the stuff I listen to outside of Eurovision is especially bleak and unmelodious music. Music doesn't have to be melodious to be good.

Ace's song reminds me of when the Black Eyed Peas started to sell out and put out all those hideous, electronic party songs. Music doesn't have to be melodious but with pop music it helps. Someone like M.I.A. makes really interesting experimental electronic stuff. Ace's song is just shouty, rebellious pop for teenagers to feel cool to.
