I guess it was a good performance.... the staging was rather effective, but i still hate him, what he stands for and the song wasn't even as good as "Manboy" last year, which wasn't exactly a masterpiece either.
In your face haters.
And Estonia is also your (oversea) neighbour with historic connections, etc.* A few 10:ers, mostly from neighbours (every single Nordic country besides Finland gave Sweden 10 points, if I recall correctly)
* Two 12-pointers, whereof one came from Estonia, a country known to historically award us high points (Sweden is the country Estonia has awarded the most points to during their participaing in the ESC, 2nd only to Russia)
Actually, none of the entries truly swept through Europe since 8, 10 and 12 pointers were given left and right to almost every single entry whether they ended up in the bottom ten or the top ten. Most nations that ranked high, received mainly points 1-7 from a lot of countries, including Azerbaijan if I remember correctly. None of the top five were great favorites among many countries. They were however, liked by most of the voting nations since they received points from so many. The presentation was great. The song and voice weren't. Too bad that was enough for 3rd place this year. Bu you know what? It as not a very convincing third place. Eric got points mainly in these three ways:
* Middling points from most counrties (1-5)
* A few 10:ers, mostly from neighbours (every single Nordic country besides Finland gave Sweden 10 points, if I recall correctly)
* Two 12-pointers, whereof one came from Estonia, a country known to historically award us high points (Sweden is the country Estonia has awarded the most points to during their participaing in the ESC, 2nd only to Russia)
It was not an entry that swept through Europe and was a great favourite among many countries. And this year, the block voting as blatant among the Western countries. It was actually less prevalent among the Eastern countries (they still awarded their neighbours high points, but they didn't mostly ignore the Western countries). Unfortunatly, Saade managed to get 3rd (in weak year), which means Sweden will keep sending in crap in the future.
Azerbaijan received at least some high marks (10, 8) from non-neighbours and Western European countries.Actually, none of the entries truly swept through Europe since 8, 10 and 12 pointers were given left and right to almost every single entry whether they ended up in the bottom ten or the top ten. Most nations that ranked high, received mainly points 1-7 from a lot of countries, including Azerbaijan if I remember correctly. None of the top five were great favorites among many countries. This is exactly why I didn't want us to do well. The overall package was good and entertaining and I can see why it did well, but everything the entry stood for goes against everything I believe in.I am happy for this third place coz finally Sweden did a great job since 2006 BUT this means Kempe will keep coming back (F**K!) and people will vote for his songs because they'll think "oh Eric finished 3rd with a Kempe song! Let's send another one!". Plus next year's ESC will be full of Saades! Pff :/
