Russia is old fashioned for sure but it is a good song.

It's not in my personnal top ten, but it was professional with a good singer. It's not hard to see why some juries went for it.

Besides Belgium that i don't find that good, there is almost nothing wrong with Slovenia's top ten for me:eek: The best performances are in it and there is no domination of East, West or Scandinavia, they just voted everywhere

It's VERY hard to see how music "experts" in 2013 would vote for a cheesy relic like that indeed, ONLY in ESC! In the "real world" you don't hear stuff like that, oh and this is a song contest, not "The Voice"... if they only vote for conventional vocals but couldn't care less about the songs, then they should be kicked out for that reason alone. We have enough of karaoke singing talent shows out there, ESC is a song contest, there's a reason why countries send original songs and that there's alot of rules regarding the songs here, if the songs aren't important and if you can hide behind a crappy song but "good vocals" like in the Russian, Georgian and Armenian cases then Houston we got a problem! Funny though that the juries didn't care for good vocals in the :hr: and :me: cases... hmmm xshrug

And again, in what shape or form does that song represent Russian music??? xshrug

Exactly. Which is why, for example, Chiara did well with juries way back in 1998 but tanked in 2009.

You can have the best voice in the world, but the song does matter when it comes to showcasing it off.

... atleast it SHOULD matter ... I mean it's a SONG contest afterall? xshrug

I liked Chiara's song in 1998 though, didn't like her other ones however...

People, are you sure about the vocals of the Croatian men?
In some parts of the song, the main singer, and the second one, were completely out of tune.
I am saying about the rehearsals.I dont remember their jury performance.

What Terence meant with his comment is that Chiara is a an example that juries care for the song.

They weren't worse than some entries favored by juries, still one of the better vocals of ESC 2013 (if we only care about vocals)...

And Nina from :me: had great live vocals... did the juries care? Nope...

I rest my case...

Well maybe i'm wrong of course, but i really see nothing wrong in Slovenia top ten.

Of course Malta, Hungary & Norway could have been there and i wouldn't have cry if Sweden was much lower but for me that's still a decent voting.

Nothing says the juries have to go for more modern song.

Russia is old fassioned, you can think it's dull, but that's still a good traditionnal eurovision ballad and she did gave a good performance.

Like i said, Russia is not in my top ten but that song pleased jurors and televoters everywhere in Europe so i think Slovenia did a decent job with that jury vote

But in 1998 the results were decided by televoting.

Oh, and I must be the odd ball that likes her 2009 effort best (and cannot stand Angel).

Awkward A-lister moment when the jury's award the "modern" Swedish entry 3rd place, whilst the televote gives it 18th!

Then again, Russia was more liked by televoting than the jury.

yes, congratulations for last place xfacepalm

(please, don't get me wrong,it would be nice if all countries did this, but if you play fair while most of your competitors cheat you just can't get a good result)

Not sure what you mean. In the final they just prefered songs from the second semi or the six pre-qualified songs.
