And Nebulossa just surpassed 1 million views in 20 hours in Youtube. See this smashing the spotify charts tomorrow and getting viral (and not only domestically). Whether that’s for the good reasons or not, I don’t care

I, for now, declare :es: is my no. 1 for the season so far. I guess I am such a sucker for synths-disco-retro pop.
She just needs to amp up the ESC staging for this big GEY anthem of the season.

Mediocre at best, but for sure better than that awful crap they tormented us with last year. :5: for now.

I like her senior Dolly Parton sort of look. But that´s about it.
Voice and song? I don´t see a whole lot to it.

Okay so first off, musically this does nothing for me, and i'm sure many others feel the same. I haven't read up on the whole "phenomenon" around this, but i'm guessing that she's basically became a minor cult figure by making it her thing that she can't sing but she's got CONFIDENCE and GUTS despite her AGE, and ran a Rodolfo-like campaign around that?!?

Really, for an outsider completely unfamiliar with the story, it's not particularly funny or even noteworthy. It's just a badly performed, very monotonous and weak song with somewhat funny performance. The questions is if anyone outside of Spain is going to "get it". I really have no idea if she's going to be able to connect with the international audience. It's not out of the question she might have some success if they manage to promote it and get a "momentum" going before the contest, but Spain is known for not doing that.

Either way, i'm going to change my avatar now, because i'm not a "Zorra" and won't become one, sorry.

There is a big, fundamental difference between Rodolfo Chikilicuatre and Nebulossa.

Rodolfo was meant to hurt Eurovision Song Contest. It was a project by a media company other than RTVE, and a choice made by people who didn't care about ESC, who wanted to troll. This is the actual opposite. Spanish people wanting to send a song they like no matter the result we achieve in May.

Mark Dasousa, the male member of Nebulossa, has been involved in Valencian music scene for 30 years and is the producer of plenty of independent acts. The singer, Mery Bas, is his wife and his business partner in the recording studio Atomic Records. A few years ago she decided she wanted to start a project of their own and he supported her even though her favorites genres fell well outside his tastes. She apparently likes ESC and that's why she entered Una voce per San Marino and Benidorm Fest without telling him. It is not a trolling effort, she may be a weak vocalist but in no way they are amateurs nor have a will to make fun of the contest. They are highly valued members of musical scene in the Mediterranean coast of Spain doing music for fun who hit jackpot.

But I've only read praise for Dasousa in the last 24 hours. He is so loved by the bands who have worked with him that he is mentioned in the lyrics of a few songs. Just a couple of examples:

Second 14

Second 33

And here you can listen Solar, their previous project, where Mark was the lead singer and Mery provided the backing chorus

TELEVOTING RESULTS

Nebullossa: 4,884
Jorge: 4,882

3 more calls for Jorge and he would have won the televoting! Oo

That number of total televotes is absurdly low. I think I would prefer a voting from 100 random persons - that would be more credible.

With this number of televotes Spain should not switch to 50% televote at all: 25% seems fair. I know the show starts late and calls are not cheap: but even smaller countries have much higher number of received calls/votes.

Last year it wasn't that obvious of a flop, it could go either way. Now there are absolutely no doubts.

That's the kind of bullshit ESC entry people in Poland watch, then consider the whole concert as western trash contest and not a singing competition. Spanish people have extremely wild taste in performances and what they consider eurovision-capable. No wonder why they keep flopping.

I remember they kept b*tching at Channel winning cause they wanted some woman with a giant boob on stage to represent them. :ROFLMAO:

They thought if they add a nipple to Blas Canto's stage Moon that it's "a message"

The show does not start late by Spanish standards. The problem is the cost of votes and the belief that they aren't worth anything after what happened in 2022.

A free voting app is the solution. Fun fact: my boyfriend voted three times for Nebulossa. That means that, if he hadn’t voted, Jorge would have won the public vote. This shows how ridiculously expensive voting is.

I read somewhere that they are planning to create this app for the upcoming year. If they do that, the televoting will be much more representative, because the actual numbers make me laugh.

By the way, let's all remember five days ago we had to read plenty of messages rueing how Mantra missed out a spot in the final despite "winning" the televote of their semifinal. How can we really believe their 7,000 votes when Nebulossa won the final with 4,500 and is charting in the Top 10 of Spotify Spain while Me vas a ver is nowhere to be seen?

That's why there is a demoscopic jury, that's why the jury has so much weight and why RTVE is delaying the introduction of a voting app. It's maddening for sure, but when they introduce it it must be the right way, with enough firewalls to prevent blatant cheating like Mantra did.

Surprised by the collaboration between Beret and Mr. Rain. I didn't see the first semi-final but apparently we both sang as guests at the Benidorm Fest.

A solution could also be by making a bigger jury. Not only 8 people. A single member of the jury can manipulate and influenced the entire voting.
And most of all give the same importance to all the Juries with 33% each.
