The fact I've finally landed in the right universe where an absolutely shimmering disco synth pop number is triumphant in a national final.. well, I've hit the jackpot at last and it feels SO good. I love everything about this ridiculously catchy, dazzlingly wonderful entry. The studio version was great enough but it becomes an entirely different beast when performed live. ZORRA is THE anthem.

María Bas and her boys are so loveable as they slink their way through the song and routine. The energy the fans give it as well, my gosh, it turns it all into such a hype moment. I honestly feel that it was a team effort with the Spanish fan energy helping Nebulossa over the finish line victorious. Best audience ever for elevating the performance to such highs. I can't help but smile the whole way through. It's staged so fantabulously that I wouldn't change a thing. It's an instant cult classic just as it is, dripping in style. María Bas must be treasured and I know she will be by the Eurovision community.

The biggest, easiest :12: points I'm ever going to hand over. The only thing that could top Spain from my ranking this year is if San Marino announce a last minute wildcard entry consisting of a newly formed supergroup starring Serhat, Senhit and Valentina Monetta. Zorra is that godly. To think Nebulossa started their journey in San Marino also, to then win Benidorm Fest!? It's absolutely crazy. One of the greatest, out of the blue success stories. I will be pinching myself from now to May.

And I'll let you in on a secret. The grand final performance of Zorra made me tear up. Only the second pop song ever to make me this emotional, the former being After Dark's return to Melodifestivalen with Kom ut som en stjärna.

Although I did not want Nebulossa to win, I get why they won the televote, it is already an anthem in Spain and will continue to be so on the coming months, plus the message is strong.

I wholeheartedly supported St. Pedro, but let's be honest, none of our songs would've won this year so, why not going with something fun and quirky that will for granted top charts in here? I just hope for a staging reformulation, and some vocal improvements, though. It's been a long time since we did not send something like this, so, let's give it a try and hope for better songs next Benidorm Fest.

Giving a solid :8: to my country.

Genuinely so delighted for you Kai - your tears of joy will hopefully drown out my tears of disappointment, but how you reacted to Nebulossa's performance just hits me right in my heart. What a joy to see you make that connection. It's a truly special thing and I hope you ride that wave of euphoric shimmering disco sparkles through to the Final in Malmö this May.

I'll come join you on the disco ball soon - save me a spot xlove

If you think the only decent song is the only one written and produced in Sweden maybe you simply don't enjoy a Spanish song contest.
I hadn't examined who has written the various Benidorm songs this year, but thanks for telling me.

There is normally a couple of good songs in the Spanish selection - last year 'Nochentera' was the best by far, not only in Spain, but among all entries at the national selections. That song isn't written by Swedes by the way.

I don't know exactly what you mean by me "simply not enjoying a Spanish song contest". I could go through the Benidorm songs that I like from recent years, but instead I'll just say that I have often rated the Spanish songs higher at Eurovision than what their actual results have been (and the results haven't been very good in recent years).

Aw Gary, thank you xlove I'm not used to moments like these. I'd say on average I'll get maybe two or at most three songs I support from NFs each year that win, and they are pretty much always ballads (stuff like Saudade Saudade). They're great but part of why I'm a Eurovision fan is because of the ridiculously infectious pop treats. I come to Eurovision for these songs which are the polar opposite of the moody stuff I listen to outside of the contest. They never make it to Eurovision though. Songs like Eini's Draamaa or Erika Vikman's Cicciolina. And then there's Sweden as a whole that used to offer me so much whilst never sending any of it. It's frustrating to say the least. Tonight just feels so special and unique. I still can't believe Nebulossa are going to Eurovision! It's crazy!

And don't worry, there's plenty of room on the disco ball for everyone, but I'm also gonna charge up my luck again (it's been obscenely good so far this year) and we can use that luck in any NF you want to get you a big fave. Take your pick

I think the audience reactions during the performance actually brings it down much more for me. In a vacuum I find the whole package to be just kind of bland, but with those massive reactions I feel like I'm trying to solve a crime case or a math problem while watching it. I just really don't get it, songwise this is on the same level as Here to Stay for me.

But I softened overtime on both WRS and Gustav, so who knows.

The best part of the live performance is by far the audience. Them singing along and being so into the song, makes me like an otherwise flat and rather boring performance a lot more. However I also listened to the studio version and I found myself surprisingly somewhat enjoying it, even if it's ironically. I will give it a :6: for now but it might go up.

Edit: I 'm quite disappointed with how Benidorm is going in general though. The first edition was one of the last NFs I followed and if I'm being honest, I enjoyed it way more than the last two ESC editions, but after that, the entries keep getting weaker and weaker and overall the quality of the show doesn't seem to be very good. I hope they keep it around for enough time to allow it to get better, cause it was a promising concept.

I agree with you. The first edition was very good overall, although I think the level of the 2nd and the 3rd has been more or less equal. I think the latter will have more domestic hits anyway.

It’s confirmed that we will have BF in 2025. I just hope it improves its quality a bit, otherwise it will die.

I think, though, that the fact Zorra won will give the preselection a bit of a push. This will certainly be a hit here in Spain, and I know for sure that this entry is not winning Eurovision, but who knows? Maybe it gets a better result than we all expect, and if that’s not the case, Spanish eurofans are very used to being bottom. No drama here.

Ooh. I'd kind of written off Spain this year, since from a first brief look at the studio versions Sofia's entry was the only one that interested me and even then it was in a kind of "guilty pleasure, would maybe be midtable for me" sense, followed by an iffy live performance to boot. But watching this a few times after the win... I'm rather happy with the choice!

It's got an infectious sense of fun to it, if nothing else - I'm just hoping they can replicate that live performance energy from the NF in Sweden. For now, a high :7: with room to grow, which is a pleasant surprise of an outcome from a lineup where just about anything else would've struggled to crack a 5 for me.

I like the song, speaking Spanish and understanding the main idea. I am curious to see how it will be live in Sweden. Not sure that the audience can sing it the same way as in Benidorm.

You know, I‘m admitting it, in general I don’t like 90 percent of :es: music. Also at Eurovision :es: is among the countries I care about the least because I hardly ever like a song they send. This year I had high hopes after watching St. Pedro’s live performance. Not the music I’d normally listen to but somehow it really worked and it was just very charming, with good vocals. His song would have been a rather safe jury bet for Eurovision and also a bunch of televoters would have probably liked the song.

Now with Nebulossa I can’t see this not being outside the bottom 5. Maybe top 20 at best, with a miracle. It’s neither jury friendly nor the right stuff to attract enough televoters. :es: if you’re happy with it it’s fine but don’t be too shocked about the outcome afterwards. I remember last year very well when the classic diehard :es: Eurofans talked about a possible top 5 or top 10 result while for me it was always clear that the entry would be somewhere at the bottom of the ranking.

:2: points from me.

My favourite entry so far this year. I really like this, it's fun, it's a little risque, and I love electropop songs anyway.
I don't actually care how this will do in Eurovision, juries will probably hate it but so what, it's gonna be iconic at Eurovision in May.

I dont think people will vote for Spain this year. Might be fighting with Germany for the last place. I give 2 points.

And those two songs I've bolded is exactly why I feel a real kindred spirit with you. You recognise and appreciate the kind of song that historically attracted me to the contest too! Heck, if you were taking part in the NSC contest here, I hope you'd be losing your marbles at the fact I'm currently competing with "Elizabeth Taylor" by Erika Vikman, and your reaction to me sending BWO to WV was a definite highlight of my time with Sweden so far (hopefully I can send a few more disco schlager treats for your degustation in the future!)

As for your kind offer of some lucky rubs on your NF lamp (ooft, apologies - that came off sounding way filthier than I meant it!!) I'll need some more reset time after last night. I've been a bit MGP blinded tbh so far, and in general I'm having awful luck with the results for my faves so far if I do have one (Nebulossa were my second fave after Angy in BF, so I'll take that as a win!)

Perhaps MF will throw out a gem in the later semis... Aura Dione is okay in DMGP, but it's a little "demo-ish". If not, I have no idea. At least I know that Austria will be guaranteeing some 90s Eurodance epicness in March when they finally officially release. I'm polishing up my Gina G 10-pence piece dress in anticipation as we speak! xheya xyaay

Sorry :es:, but if I have to look on my clock several times then something is wrong. This song is just completely bland and boring from start to finsish. The non existing vocals aren´t good either and the strip show to distract from the entry is something very creative I´ve never seen before - NOT!! xbored

In the end I give Nebulossa a :3:, at least my ears don´t hurt like last year after listenting to "Eaea", but it´s still a very weak entry and a hot contestant for last place if you ask me. (n)

Well, this Is a downgrade from last year. The song per se Is not that bad, even so I found nothing that interesting to make large audiences vote for It in Eurovision. Sure It has a pleasant retro vibe, but I'm not so sure this Is the right pick for Spain which by the way, despite Eaea not having lot of televoting support, was on a positive trend last few years. This year I think they can experience a downgrade when the final Eurovision results are announced. A :4: from me.

It is just not too engaging enough, like it's quite low energy and it just ripples on. It doesn't feel like Spain is going to do better than they did in 2023.
However, it is clearly the public's favourite and the Spanish enjoy it, so it is a good choice as Benidorm Fest winner I guess, just not as an Eurovision entry
