Leave her in peace. What's wrong with being a honest artist and competing in ESC with her own music? Who the fuck cares if the entry is not fanwanked. This is really such a random entry to hate, I still don't get it.

So Manuella isn't a popular act in Slovenia?
How did she win against Raiven then?
Raiven is a newcomer who is almost unknown. Manuella on the other hand competeted in a handfull of singing competitions, although she didn't even come anywhere near a good result in any of them. She won because she was more familiar to the typical RTVSLO viewers and a better choice to them over Raiven's "weird song". The youth doesn't watch RTVSLO except for certain programmes and the interest in EMA has been on a record low since 2014 on. Just compare the number of televotes from EMA 2007 to EMA 2016...

She basically won because some people knew her from the singing competitions and because she was the lesser of the evils to the RTVSLO viewers. The song didn't matter, which is why now nobody cares about it in the slightest.

She's the female version of Anžej Dežan. A try-hard. And her song is plagarized. Anything higher than last place is too much for this turd.

I liked Anžej Dežan and his entry a lot! What makes you see him in such a bad way?

Oh please, "Mr. Nobody" was nothing but a pile of garbage. An incredibly trashy song, with an even tackier performance.

From what I see Črno bel is actually getting played on the radio, Red and blue on the other hand...

Raiven is not very good-looking, though.

That's your personal opinion. She's looks very avant-garde and baroque...

Raiven is a teenager. Obviously she is into drag-queens... However, she still has time to find herself. ;)

CatEye. I couldn't agree more with you. You've spoken the truth and nothing, but the truth :) True words of wisdom x12sx12sx12sx12s

Well, about A. Dežan... How to put it without being harsh or offensive? First, let me say that there is no doubt about his musical talent, but there is something off about him. I respect his persistence, but nor CatEye nor I were the only who didn't "get" A. Dežan. Despite all the necessary ingredients he had, he never made a career here in Slovenia. The audience never really responded to him as personality. Why exactly, I am not sure, but I think he was at certain point all over the place - it felt as though our national TV imposed him on us, enforced him. There was nothing he couldn't do, yet he was only 20 yo - he was TV presenter, he was a singer, he was a journalist - though he had no diploma in any of respective areas. So, I believe people saw in him something like impersonation of everything what is wrong in our society today. And I believe that CatEye meant this when (s)he said he was a hard-try, nothing else. But perhaps, I am mistaken... Anyways, I hope you understand now why Anžej was not really a fan-wank of the Slovenian audience :)

Seems to be that the reason of the negative image is not so much in the quality of him as a singer or the choice of songs but more in circumstances that are not really accessible to people outside Slovenia.
That's fair enough, I could mention comparable examples here in Austria. Still, I like his ESC entry.

Well, we agree obviously, I never questioned his singing abilities... In fact, he has one song with which he won in one old and traditional music festival, and really like that one. His ESC entry was simply not my cup of tea, plus because of him, Saška Lendero couldn't go to ESC, though her song was much much better.

Yep. So, if you really adore this song, then you can imagine why most of the Slovenians were frustrated when Anžej was sent to ESC and not Saška. When I was in Israel, the only Slovenian song I ever heard there was Saška's Mandoline. And that happened years after she didn't qualify for ESC... I was shocked :)
