That was the best interview ever, up there with the one ESCTODAY did with Kaliopi a couple of years ago. Valentina has the most beautiful spirit. The journey she has been on these past three years has been immense. Valentina is only human as she states and she has her low moments but she turns those moments into beauty. She's so down to earth and in touch with the elements. I wish the whole of Europe could see the Valentina as a person we have all fallen in love with over the past three years.

Valentina is never miserable... unless it's got something to do with the price of Azerbaijan coffee. Gosh, I would have loved if the (I must say wonderful) interviewer had asked her about the Azerbaijan airport coffee incident as I believe it was Wiwi bloggs that originally reported on the story.

They don't know how we latin are... There are things like that every minute in :fr: xrofl3

Valentina is the expensive coffee passionaria, the internet abuses whistleblower and the old German composers protector...
Viva la Regina Valentina !!!

xbow I worship her for this. I hate businesses trying to rip people off. I read a lot about visitors to Azerbaijan around the time of Eurovision and how they were being charged ridiculous amounts for things. Valentina spoke for us all when she said "F*** you" to the rip off coffee merchantxyes

At least with half that price, you have a coffee in any parisian palace or any café close to the Champs Elysées... Then, save half of this money to invite Amanda Lear to drink another one ! :D

Yes, you could have coffee in all of those grand places and the Ritz as well but still have enough for an extra cup with Amanda Lear. Ten Euros for a Coffee at an airport... pffffffft... I don't know what those Azerbaijani's were thinkingxqueenbitch

I've been waiting for someone to upload this to youtube so I could share it here. This is the song I think Valentina should have went with. The video unfortunately cuts out just before the song finishes.

Valentina definitely belongs to the jazzy swing side......... however, I think this song is just as outdated as Maybe

This genre is timeless though. All Jazz could be considered "outdated" and I find any attempts at modernising the sound comes off as cheap. It is probably why no one enters Jazz in ESC, the music isn't fashionable sadly.

Italy did in 2011 and it was great. It didn't reach 2nd with ESC fan votes though :p

This is one of the reasons Valentina should have entered a Jazz song, not only because it's her passion but because the gamble most certainly would have payed off. Jazz is a very fine genre of music. She would have stood out and been allowed to truly shine.

I actually wonder where Raphael came in the polls and what not that year? All I remember is the shock from fans, followed by complaining when he achieved a very well deserved second.

I don't remember it either. I didn't even care for the song much during pre contest time. All I remember is being totally overwhelmed by its effect on the final night and wishing it could have won instead of corny Azerbaijan. In a beautiful eurovision world Azerbaijan would have its moment of glory now, in 2014...

Valentina should definitely have tried that, since she's been given so many chances. Being stuck with siegel is simply a waste of energy. I guess it isn't her choice though.

Yeah, Italy really should have won that year. I only liked Aurela Gace more and was so frustrated when she failed to reach the final. Azerbaijan got incredibly lucky that year. If there was ever a year for a mediocre song to creep through and win it was 2011. If there ever was a year for a really sophisticated song to win 2011 was the year as well so it's sad Raphael couldn't quite make it. I'd be totally fine with Azerbaijan winning this year as they have one of the most beautiful compositions. Sabina had a nice song as well but I was peeved that she beat Rona to 4th place. Rona was literally in another league to Sabina. I was annoyed that a nice but standard ballad beat something so extraordinary and by so few points as well. With a later draw Rona could have got 4th easily.

Ralph is obviously calling the shots. Hasn't it been said that he's actually paying for everything? I remember hearing such a thing last year anyway.

Sadly but true (I count Italy 2011 out....... its a lonely success for many years)....... It seems that Country Music is "in" and opera and "Popra" are even further "out" than jazz these years!!!

Sorry, but this sounds like a movie soundtrack from the 70s. It would fit perfectly as an Ennio Morricone contribution to The Godfather trilogy. It is skilled done though. I have a feeling she should have done something truly extraordinary instead. The rare clips you can find of Valentina before she went to Eurovision is indeed jazz and I think she's pretty good at it. At least it shows where her heart is.

I've been following Valentina since she first entered. Next year will be a sad year without her there.

I like this a bit more than Crisalide, and I hope the awful GCSE Dance students don't make a return. I really hope it at least qualifies. though it isn't quite as good as the Social Network Song

Do you think this is Valentina's last attempt?

I read somewhere that this is indeed her last attempt, though I can't think where I read it. I'll try and find a source.

I seem to be making things up as I can't find anything on it at all. I hope if she doesn't qualify she tries again. Go Queen Monetta!
