I doubt that this entry would be more original even n 70s where it belongs..composition seems too formulaic even for that period.. xshrug

Valentina's new album "Sensibilità" comes out on the 4th of April.. and may we all just lament for a moment and think just what could have been if they went with the song "Non Mi vergogno più".

You can listen to song samples on amazon and itunes http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sensibilità...=1396280786&sr=1-3&keywords=Valentina+Monetta

The album is the strangest mix ever. The first five tracks sound like the Ralph Siegel relics of which "Maybe" thankfully sounds the best. Then we move on into jazz territory with bossanova and swing tracks, before ending on a few Ralph style songs once again. There's a couple of really finely produced jazz tracks here and it's a big shame one wasn't picked.

I agree with you.
I would have loved the bosa nova. That would have been new. And thats a genre we die for in France. :)
Oh ! Il vento would have been great fun. She would have hired Rona's dreadlocks and smoked marijuana on stage... Valentina Marleyta from San Marijuano ! xrofl3

"Il Vento" is really cool and does sound like the stuff Rona sings outside of Eurovision:lol: Reggae would have been a hilarious but awesome move for Valentina. I also really like what i've heard so far of "Hotel". The production and style of these jazz tracks reminds me a lot of Raphael Gualazzi. He came 2nd and Valentina has stuff here of a similar quality. This is a massive shame how one of these songs wasn't chosen. I imagine Ralph wasn't involved with these particular tracks and that's the reason she's not taking one of them to Eurovision.

The first five songs are so Dalida, it's hilariousxrofl2 Don't get me wrong, I think I will love them but they are just far too dated for ESC. One thing they got right though was choosing "Maybe" out of all the relics. I genuinely feel Valentina's heartache in that song. I know many people don't like it and i'm worried for how the song will be perceived in May but I do think it's achingly beautiful in parts thanks to Valentina's interpretation.

"Non Mi vergogno più" would have been an absolute jury sucking vacuum of a song though and should have been picked. She'd have reached the final for certain and could have even placed top 10 as the quality just sounds so high.

Some jokes come true in real life. SMRTV has just confirmed Valentina for ESC 2015 regardless of this year's results! How weird is that? xcrazy

PS. Just realised it is April Fool's day so this is obviously not true. Not particularly original. I believed it for five minutes though

If San Marino return next year I dont think they will send Valentina again. She has had her time, now they need to go for something completely different and try and make the final

Mrm did you listen to any of the album samples? I think you will like some of the jazz tracks but absolutely despise the obvious Ralph Siegel compositions:lol:

"Non Mi vergogno più" is the best. I can't wait to hear it in full. It was probably made with Eurovision in mind as well as it's the right length. Valentina could have reached the final easily with it:(

Mrm More people are actually falling for it. It had the biggest rise in the ranking game here. I think the jury were actually put off voting for Valentina last year because of the sudden schlager section. To be honest, the jury has favoured much worse than "Maybe" over the years so Valentina may still have a chance.

No, I don't like Iceland, Portugal, Belgium, Moldova, Georgia, Germany... This year is so strong. High level, IMO.

This song is horribly dated, yes, and one is amazed how someone could come up with it on this day and age, but it feels more like a relic than like a piece of worthless junk. Relics somehow have a precious side to it in that they evoke an era long gone in a wistful, but not disagreable manner. This belongs in an innofensive musical from the fifties and its simplicity makes for a sense of genuineness that can't be all that bad.
Chorus sticks to your head in a way that is not at all unpleasant and makes you feel good. I think this is better and more honest than the corny and pretentious Vola.

I like it after all :)
