I can only agree with the previous commentators.

If there isn't a petition already, I think someone should write one and send to the EBU. Most probably they won't care, but at least that's what started the ban of Belarus.

I think it's at least important to show the EBU that fans aren't braindead only caring about shallow things, that EBU also has some sort of moral obligation to all of us that are sponsoring this contest and not allow this fascist regime to use its mega platform which is de facto a recognition by the EBU.

Again, this is a special case, as it involves invading and threatening other ESC countries, so I think really it goes way beyond just a political ideological disagreement at this point (which EBU shouldn't involve themselves in).

Belarus was one thing - and I'm still surprised they actually did it! - but when it comes to Russia, I don't think EBU has the guts to simply ban them. I agree though with the sentiment that Russia should not be allowed to participate in Turin, they are literally on the brink of invading another participant (or even more in the worst case scenario though by that point ESC 2022 might get cancelled)

Coming to Turin with a peace ballad of all things would be such a grotesque move. xpuke

ESC 2009 was hosted in Russia despite the South Ossetia war, Russia wasn't booted from 2014's contest despite the annexation of Crimea... Given that precedent, why would EBU against throw out one of its biggest members this time, especially if Russia stops at just annexing the breakaway regions and doesn't go for Kiev as well. EBU has always been uncaring in terms of the countries that are allowed to compete since the contest's inception, hosting editions in Franco's Spain way back when.

I feel bad for all Russian fans who stand for peace and the Russian artists with dignity such as our lovely 'Manizha', but I agree with the statements above. Russia should be sanctioned in every field, and EBU membership is one of those. However, I really doubt it will happen. It literally took EBU two provocative songs from Belarus back to back to finally kick them out.

The problem is that Belarus directly infringed the rules especially regards to the selection and entry that politicised it so much and was unwilling to change etc. But ofcourse motivated by the popular uprising has a hand to the decision towards the ban.

But for Russia hostile actions against another state would probably not ban Russia. But only way is via serious politicised entry that deemed to be illegal regarding to EBU rules. Peace and love songs im afraid would not infringe this.

Don't forget EBU is not part of either EC or EU so any sanctions would not affect participation.

I may be wrong but anything can happen at this point tbh

Klava Coca officially denied, due to busy schedule:

But she hinted she can change her mind if the broadcaster asks her.

The rumours about Polina Gagarina turned out to be a fake as well, someone photoshopped false info to promo materials.

I also feel sad for the Russian fans and Manizha indeed felt like a genuine person (not like previous puppets), but with that said this is not against Russian fans, but one can't separate the broadcaster from the regime unfortunately, it's just reality.

Man we really need to get people to sign that damn petition … I neither have Facebook nor twitter so my possibilities of sharing it are limited. Thanks Insta for not letting me post links.

I see, well surely someone in here is more "in the know how" on social media.
Can’t believe that I actually created a Twitter acc for this lmao. Gotta do what’s necessary. If people can sign a damn petition asking for some band to go to Eurovision they surely also can sign this one.

I don't think EBU will kick Russia out because the point of the contest was to bring people together, even in times of crisis and political differences. Well and they don't want to piss people off that pay them money, so they don't like to take sides.

Personally I would not let Russia take part (just to make it clear :'D)

I'm just waiting for Sergey to be confirmed as this years entrant. Given the situation he would be a smart choice to ensure a solid result, Russia will want to show their greatness. The contest was always their propaganda tool.
Sergey has a lot of fans in all of europe, he's gay so no "homophobia" scandals that could damage the reputation even further and he will perform a flawless act in May. Kirkorov will also do what he does best and rig something to ensure that his little lapdog won't fail.
