Not wanting to dance anymore, but I must dance
Re: RUSSIA 2016

ELLO's YouTube channel re-uploaded most of Vera Brezhneva's music videos.

The songs are still in Russian, but her name is Romanized, the song titles are translated and the descriptions all say

Former lead singer of popular Russian girl band Via Gra and now successful solo artist.
One of the sexiest women in Russian show business.

along with English lyrics to the songs and a link to a playlist with the new videos.

I mean, maybe I'm reading too much into it, but, why would they re-upload her music videos with English titles and lyrics???

Re: RUSSIA 2016

I really hope, Russia sends something different than the last years. A group for instance, a male singer or a duet. And please, something catchy and up tempo No more ballad with cheesy "we heal the world"-lyrics. Maybe in two or three years time again, .....

Maybe it's time for Dima's rival, Sergey Lazarev, to take his chance? :D

Maybe its just me but following what supposedly has been happening behind the scenes the last two years (if its all true) I get the feeling Sergey does want to do it but is holding back for various reasons only he really knows. Perhaps because he's afraid of being booed and doesn't want that type of pressure and spotlight on him or he's afraid of failure I don't know.

That's just my opinion but I get the feeling he will do it at some point xshrug

No thank you, she will be bullied by all the EuroGay fans in Sweden after her homophobic comments.

It doesn't really matter who Russia sends since any singer they send will be bullied by the EuroGay fans ;)

They could send Mother Theresa and they would still be bullied. Russia should just send whoever they want and not be dictated by the hypocritical bullies :geek:

EuroGay fans in Sweden? Who are they? Never seen, never heard of before. It's true many Swedes will feel uncomfortable with Russian participation in Eurovision, but that is entirely due to recent Russian military provocations in the Baltics and elsewhere. I doubt there will be Swedes booing in the arena, but if there is booing I don't think SVT will try to mask it with pre-recorded cheering. My personal opinion is that is unworthy of Russia to participate in friendly cultural and sport events while being at war. I feel embarrassed on their behalf for playing along in what appears as a Putin propaganda spectacle. Sorry

I mean the OGAY's & the rest of Eurovision club from Europe and from others parts of the World with pro-gay mentality who will come only to bully the Russian artist (No matter what who is) just for make a clear message to Putin for its actions in Syria & Ukraine and with the Gay People in Russia won't be tolerated outside of Russia.

For not mentions that if Russia leads the voting in the final, all the public will boo it and pray that an Gay Friendly country from Western Europe or Scandinavia wins Eurovision for avoid that they have to go for Russia just for be insulted, harassed or arrested by the Russian police if they promotes the homosexuality as positive thing.

It's sad that a minority thinks that their are the owner of this competition, create and imposes its own rules of tolerance with certain participants.:rolleyes:

I'm no expert in Eurovision fan communities or gay communities (I'm not really sure I'm a fan myself and I'm not gay), but my impression of the booing of Russian Eurovision participants is that it is not at all coming from Swedes. If booing is at all mentioned on Swedish sites or media it is always condemned. I've seen it discussed and supported in another country though. tbh I think it's pretty unfair and sloppy to blame Sweden and Swedes without any grounds or specific proof, just feeding the general Eurovision fan grudge against Sweden.

Swedes hate Russia, because Russia is better than Sweden and we all know that :D

Swedes want to act like royalty, but the truth is that outside Eurovision, Russia holds Sweden by the balls. And that's what pisses them off so much.

So stupid. So immature. So Swedish.

niko I'm amazed of your brilliant analysis of the Russian relation to the Swedes. Or was it the other way around? What Putin does and thinks isn't necessary the Russian way you know.

I have a two swedish friends, and they don't hate Russia. One of them even works in St. Petersburg. So the first part of your sentence is clearly wrong.
In alpine skiing, there are MUCH more victories for Sweden than for Russia, so your overall statement in the second part is clearly wrong too.
I don't know, if Russia is better than Sweden or if Sweden is better than Russia as you don't say in what respect you compare these two countries. So the third part of your statement is also clearly wrong.

Can't we stop these generalizations here? Please!

Sorry but she deserved it, she gained all her fame from a faux lesbian act, the way she talked was like spitting to her meal. I am not even gay but i'd boo her too. She and her so-called "voice" tried it in 2003, and the EuroGays™ made her 3rd. This time now, she lost all her fame, and apparently dignity, so even with their big diaspora Russia would fail in the final. She needs to stop with Eurovision, not because "the passive agressive evil gay fan base", because she has no talent.

And for example UK is not involved in war in Syria right now? Few days ago NATO bombed a hospital in Afghanistan?

I think it is a matter of honour and honesty. You got to ask yourself why you participate in these events. Lets take for example sports events. Is it to showcase your country to the world and prove your strength and skill? Or is it more of a friendly exchange and a platform for individual achievements under a common banner and format? How can you compete under friendly and equal terms while at the same time being at war? Your participation tends to be surrounded by suspicion and denunciation and your attitude defiant. Ultimately it is the individual contestants that will take the blow and the overall experiences will be miserable afterwards. It is an awkward and embarrassing situation, not at all the fun and honourable experience it should be.

Russia is our neighbour and we rather prefer to socialise on friendly terms. When this is not possible it is better to keep a respectful distance in my opinion. As I said it is a matter of honesty, honour and respect. Note that I'm not trying to be hostile to Russia in any way and I dare to say that all Europeans would be happy for a friendly Russia in close cooperation with us.

Just consider: Do the Russians feel they want to be friends with Europe? Do the Russians expect to be treated friendly by Europe? Are the Russians making any efforts to improve their relations with Europe?

And what is the difference between Russian politic from one side and politics of USA and, for example Great Britain from other side? All big players on global politic scene play dirty and use kicks under the belt. Whole Europe today talk about refugees from Syria but how many of them know that more than million people from eastern Ukraine fled to Russia (they are refugees too)? Thats why we don't need to mix politics with music, art and sport.

Well I agree with you USA is somewhat in the same boat and for example Israel as well. The Brits may be headstrong sometimes, but it was a long time ago they waged war of aggression and centuries ago they were any threat to their neighbours. What I'm saying isn't an exact science and I would never feel the same way towards for example Israel. Sympathies and respect are earned qualities, nothing you can demand or expect being fair. Perhaps it is true Russia has a longer way to go than others to meet trust and respect. It surely doesn't help when they're rushing in the opposite direction
