Re: RUSSIA 2016

I really want to hear something in Russian next year xlove

It would be really nice to get a entry in Russian. The whole song is not necessary, maybe at least a half in Russian and half in English ;)

Re: RUSSIA 2016

Nysha announced that she doesn't want to participate in the Eurovision.

I'm all for Nyusha, but with the current route Russia is on regarding ESC they would probably just waste her on some imported English cheesy ballad like they did on Polina... it's so sad when they pick great names but settle with songs that have nothing to do with these artists and are just bought for the ESC.

Next year it is RTR turn, so it will be something Russian. RTR sent 2014, 2012, 2010, 2008 and 1994 entries.

2014 Russian? As far as I remember it was also an imported ballad in English xshrug

It's a shame Nyusha doesn't want to, but things can change, if she would consider I hope they'd give her free hands to send an entry in her own style and not imported for ESC.

It was written by Kirkorov who is Russian, with the help from Kontopolous, who is Greek which is close to Russia.

As for Nysha, Kirkorov offered her help in the next Eurovision. Maybe, in the end, she will agree.

I guess he means something IN Russian, you know he likes that stuff...

Anyhow I really look forward what RTR brings next year! Overall I think the other channel has had the stronger bunch of songs, but there are some lovely like Russia 94 and 2010. :D

Maybe, but 2014 wasn't imported
And it is RTR who won the contest for us.:D Also, RTR can send songs like :ru: 2012, while C1R is playing safe. But both channels are good.

Kirkorov is Bulgarian, but yes it's true his career is based in Russia. I don't know much about Kontopolous other than he is this guy some countries hire especially for Eurovision, he's more like G:son or or Ralph Siegel

So imported or not, it was an entry especially made for Eurovision with no actual ties to Russian music.

I'm just saying it would be nice to get an actual Russian song made by Russian talents, in Russian language, and not especially made for Eurovision.

Kirkorov's mother was from Russia, so it is like saying, that Eric Saade is not Swedish.

That is not the point of what he is trying to say. Surely you agree the past Russian entries haven't been exactly Russian?

Well, 2014, 2012, 2010, 2009, 2006, 2003, 2002, 2001, and all the 90s entries were typical Russian modern music. If we don't count the language.

Re: RUSSIA 2016

Sorry for the question, but how come two broadcasters are in charge of Eurovision in Russia?

Huh? Eric Saade is born in Sweden, Kirkorov is born in Bulgaria... not sure what you're trying to say here? I did however agree (and never denied) that Kirkorov is based in Russia and has his career there.

Apparently it's difficult to grasp what I mean but yes this is what I mean...

I agree about all of them except for maybe 2014... with that said the past years is what I'm actually referring to, and definitely not the 90's (the rules of Eurovision were different back then even so it's hard to compare).

If Eric Saade is Swedish just because he was born in Sweden, then, for example, Helene Fischer is Russian, Despina Vandi is German and Hadise is Flemish?

Yes, I consider Eric Saade Swedish (afterall he is born here, raised in a mixed Swedish household in Sweden plus is still living here and is having his career here plus ethnically half-Swedish) so not really sure what point you're trying to make? He is definitely not like those other cases you compare with xshrug

Again, what do you want to say? Ok let's say Kirkorov is Russian, doesn't change that the song wasn't really "Russian" so to speak. It was a product made especially for Eurovision more or less with that Greek guy who is one of those "buy a ESC production" producers, and my initial point is that I would prefer a more genuine Russian product.

Then why you don't consider Kirkorov as a Russian, apart from the thing that he was born in Bulgaria he is identical to Saade.

And Kontopolous was not bought especially for the Eurovision. He was present on the Russian music scene since 2004, and produced/wrote numerous songs for singers like Ani Lorak, Anastasiya Stotskaya and Kirkorov.

Actually :ru: invited foreign composers with no connection to the Russian music only in 2000, 2008, 2011, 2013 and 2015. All others songs have been written by Russian composers and lyricists.

Ok, can we drop the Kirkorov case finally? Ok he is Russian, never mind what I said...

I dunno who Anastasiya Stotskaya is, but Kontopolous is to Russia what G:son is to Spain or Siegel is to San Marino... maybe slightly more involved but more or less a Eurovision hired "producer". I assume he worked with Ani Lorak and Kirkorov due to their Eurovision involvements, it does make sense.

Again I was referring mostly to the recent years and that I would prefer something that more resemblance the Russian music scene rather imported ballads in English (or alteast ballads in English made especially for ESC). I don't think what I said was in particular bad, quite the contrary since I am actually supporting the idea of something Russian in here.

Actually, he first started to work with Kirkorov since he made a duo with Sakis Rouvas in 2004, and he was not involved with Eurovision until 2005 when Kirkorov asked him to write the song for Stotskaya (which came 4th in the NF), and in 2014 Kirkorov asked him to co-write the song for the twins. That's all. He worked more on albums for Ani Lorak and Kirkorov than Eurovision. While, Gson and Siegel don't work for the local music scene.

As for the Russian language, don't expect it until the return of the 100% televoting, cause now our broadcasters are playing safe.

I don't think bad pronounced english is safer than singing in russians which is spoken by millions of people especially in eastern europe fluently..

Well when it comes to English the Russian participants have been rather good with their pronunciation. There may be a tiny accent on certain words but overall the English is good and easy to understand. When it comes to English singing from East Europeans Russia is probably the best.
