By the way, now that we all clarified ourselves about what we were trying to say, I need to go to bed now. I've got a fever. Good night and see you tomorrow, xwave

It's cuz everyone always bashes my favourite songs, there's not a year where my fave sons are left alone and in peace by the fanboys, and this is extremely tiring

Two wrongs don't make a right. It's kind of the point of the forum to talk about songs. People here are respectful of one another which is why it's my favourite ESC community. Everyone bashes my favourite songs year after year. I actually joined this forum because people were sharing scathing opinions of "Suus", my favourite ESC song of all time that I was passionate about. Rather than belittle people for their opinions which they had a right to have, I just poured out all the love I had from inside of me for the song at every chance I could get. Focus more on the positives rather than the negatives. Revallsay was just expressing her love for two songs and didn't deserve such a comment from you. No one should have to fear getting a response like that for just expressing what they like. This isn't a top 43 ESC youtube video without Barei at number 1. Let's keep things classy here.

Wonderful cool beans and all. Of course we're all here to have opinions about the music we're listening to and to share those opinions. Why though unprovoked did you feel the need to attack the taste of another forum member? I'm being serious now. Almost every post I read of yours is hateful or spiteful. You say you have respect for other peoples tastes but you don't. You already declared that you're looking forward to laughing at those of us who enjoy the Georgian and Polish entries this year after they "fail". Why would you behave in such a way? Where is the respect for other people here? We're all here to enjoy the music (if we can) and to talk about it. Not always positive opinions will be shared and that's fine, but insulting other people is not on. God help the person that doesn't have exactly your ideal outlook on music and how it should be. Lighten up a little.

There's a reason why we permbanned him on EscForum tbh, please someone do it here too and make this forum a better place xheart

I'm a very recent joiner of ESCForum, and apparently he's iconic there for being...well, exactly the person he is here.

Although what he said is absolutely unacceptable, I don't think it would be fair to ban him. Some other members expressed very derogatory opinions as well - one of the most awful posts I remember compared Jamala to a horse. I also remember someone calling another person a whore...

I'm under the impression that you are one of the most popular forum members because your opinions tend to be refreshingly different from the mainstream on a regular basis. One possible explanation is that your account is actually operated by a group of art students who display printouts of your forum posts and the reaction they evoke as part of a permanent experimental art exhibition in the foyer of their department. You being a real person is certainly an even more satisfying alternative explanation and I have become one of the many members of this illustrious forum who are always eager to find out what you might think about a newly revealed song during the NF season.

I think that's both the sweetest and just about the most darn hilarious thing anyone has ever said to me herexheart I am a real person, believe it or not. Quite contrary to popular belief, I know. I do appreciate things that could be considered experimental, avant-garde or outsider. I wish I had a permanent experimental art exhibition. I would display some of my paintings. My apologies for going off topic. I shall bring things back on track. What a delightfully charming song the Russians have sent this year. It's from another era but I can't help but find it quite delicious.

AHAHA omg. That work of art. You really capture me in that picture. I often walk about with pizza on my head and a nuke in my hand. You need to start a Rainy's art thread. XD

Thank you for your sweet reply. xlove

I really appreciate your art. I don't know how AshleyWright looks in real life but thanks to you I have a pretty good idea now. When I don't know the looks of a forum member I naturally picture them like their avatar. So I always thought Ashley was some blonde woman, who actually seems to be Cascada. I also had no idea he was a thrifty shopper.

How friendly this thread has suddenly become! xshock
Yet dreadfully off-topic and I'm afraid it's all my fault.

My favourite song of last year (and now my favourite ESC song of all time) was :pt: so trust me, I know what it's like for my favourites to be completely and utterly bashed and annihilated but that doesn't make it acceptable to go and hate on the taste of another person completely unprovoked... I think you should apologise to dear revallsay personally.

Very commercial and mainstream in pace with Russia's strategy to host ESC once more. Always works on stage, but I dont like it. Makes ESC be a tv show instead of the music event it should be.

I'd argue it doesn't only work on TV - it's one of my most-listened-to entries on my phone/computer as well. Personally, I think it's great even just as a song. Sure, the song's not for everyone, but it's not like it's a mostly-fanless empty shell that was only elevated live (a la Russia 2014).

I certainly agree that I don't want ESC to just be a commercialised, mainstream TV event like everything else out there, but I don't think this song in particular can be called mainstream when it's very specifically made for the contest.

I'm not sure you can pick and choose, it's either mainstream/commercial or its not. What about Bulgaria and Croatia this year? Are they not mainstream because they were made specifically for ESC? Because they were made with ESC in mind just as much as Russia's song is. They wouldn't exist at all if there was no ESC.

This song is a few years old to the current trends so its not current current but its not niche or ancient either. It's still a mainstream style song

I feel like being made specifically for ESC means that a song isn't mainstream, though. The contest itself isn't what I'd consider mainstream - it's always been inside its own little bubble in a way, being ruled by music that really wouldn't have a significant place anywhere else. 'Mainstream' and 'stereotypical Eurovision music' are two separate categories, in my mind, and being part of the latter generally stops a song from being part of the former. I don't think any songs like this are really a radio hit right now, or that they're selling albums, or being promoted by the mass media... so can you really call them mainstream? I'd say the term applies much better to something like Frans, who has a song that sounds largely like the popular hits you'd find anywhere else (for better or worse).

So, uh... yes, I would also say that Croatia (and maaaaybe Bulgaria) aren't mainstream songs. If there was any mainstream media I'd heard of focused on songs like Lighthouse, I'd make sure to keep tabs on it!

Also, who said that Sergey is a arrogant dude?  watch this video....

Omg, he is really humble and very professional. His replies were very thougth through and diplomatic :) Although I knew him before this edition of ESC, I have to admit I never really liked him/his music too much. But yesterday evening I gave myself a homework: research him a bit more in depth, so I listened to a bunch of his songs, watched his live performances etc. I must admit he seems to be a really hard-working guy. His success didn't come out of nothing! And thanks God he has changed his hair-style. 10 years ago he looked silly :)
One more thing to add: yesterday I gave my niece to listen to his song (my niece is not as an avid ESC fan as I am), so after hearing his song for the first time, her response was: This one is going to win :) Next, I asked him: So, what do you think about his looks? She only giggled (she has a serious bf for some time now), but she commented only: He is really gorgeous, nyami :) Well, then I gave her some other songs to listen to, but she didn't express much excitment over the other songs except Bulgaria. She really liked Bulgaria. So, all the fans of Bulgaria, trust me, Bulgaria will do just fine with Slovenian televoters (yes, Mii11, I am talking to you :)).
