Re: RUSSIA 2014

BTW I don't think Russia will receive less points this year because of this. But I DO think Ukraine could get some pity votes. Not many, because the tricky tricky tok tok tok is not really something to get pity, but I guess some countries might be for voting :ua: this year.

But one partygoer is trying to steal another party goer's home. We shouldn't talk about it? Shouldn't other partygoers try to do something? At least not invite the aggressor to the party?

This! It's like inviting the biggest bully of the school to your party and invite the main target of the bully...

What a nice party...

Obama is working about it. European Union too. Not Eurovision organizers... It's not their competent.

Again you are wrong... if that's the case why was Serbia banned from ESC for a decade?

EBU could easily decide if they want to reward Russia with a platform or not...

You say this like the Russian entry will definitely be anti-Western propaganda. Russia is large enough not to need Eurovision as a platform...

Russia already sent anti-Western propaganda back in 2005

The first de facto Serbian entry (under Federal Republic of Yugoslav flag) back in 1992 wasn't any "anti-west" propaganda at all (it was a great entry tbh)... and that's not really what I think Russia would send, I just think it's not right to promote Russia in a contest when they are in the meantime invading another ESC country xshrug

I mean look at Russia's entry last year, what if we get another "we want peace la la la" entry this year...

Really? Do you think the banning is punishment enough for the events?

Russia will be destroyed for not participating in Eurovision...

No, but since we're discussing Eurovision here, that's the concern in this thread...

In that case, go ahead. I just wanted to put politics aside, to downplay the issue...

I get it, but although politics involved, it was never off-topic xshrug

Sincerely, I don't want to convert the thread into a cabinet crisis.

I really hope they stay, if no, then we will have even less countries. :( and it's already a small number..if they go maybe Belarus will go too,and Ukraine will probably go due to situation.. :?

Russia invests in ESC a lot..and is not even a BIG 5 country..

Then we will all laugh at the irony of Russia sending a song about peace.
