He was 7th with the public vote in 2013, it was the juries who voted him down.

Yeah, but he didn't deserve that whole hate, only because his voice is not as typical as rest of Eurovision-mainstream artists.

After a clip of 150 000 euro for Zombie Love, Mihai said that this is not the song for ESC. But he has a song for ESC, he expected it all these years and that he has now the winner song for Romania. Mihai said he was going to enter the Romanian NF in 2014 and then withdrew because he didn't feel his song was good enough, right? Hopefully his high standards translate to an actually good song!

I thought they would win by now but it seems like the effort they used to put into Eurovision kinda petered out.

To me, Romania can try almost anything as they always qualify. But as much as I liked some of their entries, the only song that was winning material was "Playing With Fire" in 2010, and it showed in the voting (3rd place). They have the potential to win the contest tbh, but it's true that their last efforts were far from being challenging enough to trouble the top 10 in the final.

Voltaj was among my faves this year.

However, I might be a little biased as I have heard the song before it showed up at their NF.
The language made the song sound cool and unique to my ears.

So, if the song is going to be in native again, the possibility of me liking the song is greater.
I will take Romanian over English any day (well, in 90% instances at least).

I didn't mean the last efforts of Romania were worthless, just that they weren't the type of song that would gather loads of votes.

And hell yes, they should stick to Romanian, as it's so much better in national languages.

I think that can be a song made for the national selection. No one assume the risk on TVR to make an internal selection. I remember that few years ago, Miss Platnum wanted to represent us, but to be an internal choice. In another year, rumours said that Inna wanted an internal choice just because she won't have time for national selection. TVR is afraid that a bad place will come with many critics in media that they choose internally, so whatever will happen they will do national selection.
