Omg thank you for reminding me of Zamanyly. It was really the best song of the evening, I was listening to it almost religiously for months after that edition was over šŸ˜‚

Iā€™m pretty old so this means a lot when I say this. Itā€™s probably one of my top 5 songs of all time! If not too 5 then at least top 10! Itā€™s incredible and even better than 1944. Iā€™m glad you feel the same way. Thanks for helping me to feel normal.

I've just added the necessary line breaks manually to my blog report for last nght's Eurovision Song Contest 2021 Second Semi-Final. Those should have been put in automatically when I pasted the text in last night, but for some reason, they weren't, and thus parts of the report were difficult to read. The whole report is now laid out properly, with blank lines where required, and thus it's now easier to read. For those that missed the link last night, here it is again:

the fact that some of y'all say that :fr: is chanceless, but can't we talk about us perfoming right after Ukraine and before Azerbaijan, which will undoubtedly setting a huge contrast between these three, while Bulgaria performs right before this string of songs? yup yup

I have 20 votes to give and Iā€™m sure at least a few will go to France. France has given me so much over the years. Particularly recently.

and let me tell you that if a song is meant to win, then it'll win, whether it's performed in #2 or #18

I think most Eurovision fans are not swayed by order at all. That is overblown. They try to make a ā€œflowingā€ show. Which I can understand, I guess. Also, the allocation to each semi is done by a method which is meant to reduce bloc voting. I think it works, kind of, or better than no methods at all.

Either this is supposed to be on the prerec vocals thread or if this is an appropriate thread, but I keep thinking of how the juries will rate entries this year, based on the fact that prerecs have been used heavily throughout the contest. I suspect it'll be virtually the same, but lemme know your thoughts!

The Croatian theorem hahah.

Croatia not qualifying is a proof to otherwise.

That order is bad luck for Azerbaycan, but also bad luck for France, as Ukraine is vocally so convincing in delivering her rave party, that I'm afraid when we finish with Ukraine, France will seem strange and awkward (and not Ukraine which is actually weirder and more awkward haha).

i just don't get your point (and you're not the only one).

pairing ukraine with france is genius, since both will stand out thanks to each other back to back tbh. both entries are very different on their own

IMO Top 5 will be

1. Italy
2. Ukraine
3. Iceland
4. Switzerland
5. Malta

Can't believe Ukraine are not shorter in the odds. It's nailed on for Number 2 imo. France has a nice and powerful ending, but the song itself won't appeal to many. And with juries, I see acta like Iceland, Switzerland scoring better.

I was just watching the recap and at the 137:29 mark one of the backing singers totally surprised me by making a noise that is so remarkably like a cat's meow, I couldn't let it pass without comment.
137:29?? There's a recap that's over 137 minutes long? Which recap is it, and what time stamp? I wanna hear this cat person

Yeah, and in comparison of both, Ukraine is more interesting and more memorable.

Just saying.

France's lucky draw would be to come after San Marino, Cyprus or Malta. Then it would easily cancel those divas effect. But it is impossible to cancel Ukraine. They are too unique

I was watching the recap section within the full semifinal 2 video. It is the recap for Sugar and the timestamp in that full Semifinal 2 video is just about 137:29.

EDIT: I checked and couldn't hear it in the short recap video (that was a different recap run).

Sooo the running order doesn`t really give me any new information as everything is pretty much as expected. Overall we should keep in mind that the Semi results don`t have to mean shit for the final. (Just take Netta for example who only finished fourth in the Semi Televoting only to win it in the Final).

Itā€™s wide open. Kind of like the theme. OPEN UP!

The gayest theme ever?

how on the earth would i want us to cancel ukraine? it's nothing new seeing two countries perfoming back to back and placing both very high
