That's not how things works in Festival da CançãoIt is a bit strange not to bring an A-Game staging.
Maybe in the end, he wants to follow Olly from Italy.
That was a joke...That's not how things works in Festival da Canção
I'm sorry but Fernando Daniel can't be excused, that staging is lazy, he is not a band he could have done better, he has a record label backing in, he could have hired someone to work with him a good staging concept. What Fernando did is basically what Churky did in 2023 and Churky does not have the fandom, success nor money that Fernando Daniel has. Not to mention that Fernando's staging was done in 2022 in eurovision and Germany ended up with 6 points. It will be a mega flop and he will rightfully deserve to nq at eurovision, laziness should not be rewarded.People online will get so pissed if Fernando Daniel wins this year.
I honestly think this is the most likely scenario.
I remember that last year, RTP didn’t allow any major changes to performances, and I’m not sure if they will this time. People need to be realistic about JOSH’s staging - any adjustments will likely be minor, probably limited to camera work and lighting. He has the eurofans on his side, and maybe the juries will see the potential of it all, but as it stands now I honestly don’t think he’s winning.
Fernando won’t win because he’s a big name. The song is good enough to win - better than previous songs from other well-known artists, in my opinion. It will appeal to both the juries and the general public, and he’s a great live singer. In terms of "band performances", I don’t see NAPA doing better than him with the juries.
We’ll have a better idea next Saturday, but for now, I believe Fernando is the frontrunner.
My personal favorite is Cotovia and I wish she had a real chance.
Well, Josh is alone on stage. In the end, they will save money comparing with 2024. The pole it self was made in several parts, like an ikea product. So, they should bring with them on the outbound flight.I'm sorry but Fernando Daniel can't be excused, that staging is lazy, he is not a band he could have done better, he has a record label backing in, he could have hired someone to work with him a good staging concept. And Josh... I'm only going to say that they spend months working on a gimick while they could have done so much more... I know it's bad to use your imagination to stage a song you like, after all your imagination does not have budgetary nor technical constraints, but damn… If Josh wins what is likely to happen is that they will ditch that metal sctructure(RTP would have to pay for one at Basel and remember what happened with Mimicat's couch), but they will just hang him like a piñata for two minutes and a half and call it a day. In a couple of days you can't create a brand new and polished staging, and that's how much time RTP has to send the necessary info to EBU.

I will question his effort until he proves me wrong. We don't owe anything to the artists in the competition, we aren't the ones that have to beg for them to do the bare minimum, it's the opposite. They are the ones that have to prove to us, the public, and to the judges that they deserve to win and to go to eurovision and I will never forget when in 2022 I decided to skip the first semi of festival to watch the french nf, a contest where the performers were asked to say why they should win and represent France at eurovision, only to come back to Maro cosplaying as a woman from hr and a bunch of eurofans making excuses for her. No! I don't want anyone to make excuses for someone that does not have a eurovision ready package, Portugal does not have time to revamp anything and even though RTP complains every year that they have little time, it never occurs to them to start the nf one month earlier!I am not defending him, just trying to be realistic. I get where you’re coming from, but judging an entire performance as lazy based on a photo and a 5-second rehearsal clip isn’t exactly fair. We don’t know the full execution yet. Plus, Fernando himself mentioned that his original staging concept had technical constraints, which is something that could potentially be resolved on a bigger stage like Eurovision if he wins. Additionally, he plans to create two more videos for the song after the contest, which shows he is invested in this. You can dislike the staging, but questioning his effort isn’t fair. He is not a band, but can choose to perform with a band.

As for Josh, beyond the bar gimmick, something feels off. The styling, especially with him being all dressed up and those horrible nails, doesn’t really match the raw emotion of the song. I honestly think he should strip it back and bring a more authentic, vulnerable presence to the performance.
I’m curious to see Emmy Curl and Diana as well.
Also, I can't see a scenario where Henka wins, but maybe I'm wrong. She's a nice addition to the show, though.
With regards to Josh, it is exactly as you say. It's not only about the pole gimmick, it's everything about him that does not match the song and makes the whole thing sound fake. The styling, the nails, the suit, his closed eyes, heavy expression and body language, it's all wrong, there's nothing remotely positive about it.I am not defending him, just trying to be realistic. Cotovia is just Portuguese half Folk. It's been done to death, and not particularly inspired at thatWhere are people getting the reviews for today’s rehearsal? Because people are saying that Cotovia looks strong, and I want to believe it and dream for a while.
I have heard that the song was revamped... it does make much sense, but...Apparently, there’s a lot of buzz around Fernando Daniel’s performance of “Medo” . He creates two distinct atmospheres on stage, starting alone with his guitar in an intimate setting and ending with a powerful, explosive moment alongside his band. The staging is designed perfectly for TV, making the most of the stage and camera work. With such a stunning performance, he could very well be the winner of Festival da Canção!![]()
