I have the same opinion. I don´t think they help anything because only those who are already fans attent those shows.

But yesterday at his show in Berlin was fun, everybody sang along Telemóveis and at one point he called people to the stage. He is a great performer taking into consideration his lack of experience in big events.

I'm afraid that Conan is still very green for eurovision, his first live show was 2 march of 2018 in the zdb galery and the festival da canção final was his fifth time performing on tv.
We need to realize that Conan doesn't have the experience of other performers that have years of experience and a big team of professionals behind them.
Hopefully rtp will get someone to plan the staging for telavive and someone to help with the choreography, he can be great in live performances but it needs to look good on tv also

This is what we need for this "new life" in ESC. Something unusual, but still fine for Eurovision. I am sure that we will be succeeded in Tel Aviv. And another thing, this polarized poll give me a sensation of a very recent throwback...

I noticed that on people's rankings too! In many cases Portugal is either very high or very low! This is actually a sign for a good result since all the winners usually polarizing like that!

Yes, you are correct. After 2014, I can not even remember a winner without being loved/hated at same time... Maybe Mans, but he was hated too.

That depends on the number of haters tho. From what I see, this one has much more haters than an Eurovision winner gets pre-show.
Winners usually get roughly 8/10 die-hard fans and 2/10 loathers.
This one, as far as my observation goes, has 6/10 fans and 4/10 haters.
Just like AWS last year. You need a bigger ratio of fans to win the whole thing.

Clearly an interesting composition, something I never heard in ESC... not sure how to describe it... Trip-Hop alt. electronic R&B meets traditional Portuguese music? Best Portugese entry since 2014 (guilty pleasure) but maybe more on a serious note since 2009 ... for sure miles above the sleeping pill Salvador... this is most probably a top. 10 for me but knowing the juries it might be too alternative (= forward-thinking) for their taste... we'll see..

I always thought myself a pretty open person, ready to embrace weird and whimsy. Well... I've seen my limit lol
I'm glad smth like this is at Eurovision, cause who wants 40+ same sounding songs, but that's just not my cuppa.

I do dig the dancer though. Charisma and energy for days!

The only major weirdness is the stuff they are wearing. I'm still not convinced the vocal melody is that good, you could say the short middle/end idea upstages it even.

The video is actually an interview (with him reading comments at the end) subtitled in english, were Conan talks about his life and about his work.
He also explains the meaning of the song at the beginning.

I hope so badly that this doesn't flop in May. It seems something that the juries will hate and I'm not sure if the general televoting public will go for it either. I hope this will make at least top 10 though; great song.

I can see this even winning! Its so unique and different that will make many people to vote it! However improving staging needed!

Well, I think that at least jury should appreciate this entry, if not public, because this is ART!
But considering that juries are singers and X Factor and Voice stars from many countries, I don't believe in their judgement so much.
But I still hope for the best, and final should be without question for Portugal this year.

The problem is I think his vocals are not that great live if you listen carefully..i don't mind mistakes here cause it is the type of the song I don't mind such mistakes..but I'm not sure about ESC jury..

I love his songs "Celulitite" and "Baba Yaga" in studio version , but when I saw performance in Berlin club it was really weaker live..but sometimes small clubs have bad sound..

I still hope for the best!

[MENTION=12196]Mrm[/MENTION], juries don't reward strong vocals, we all know it. If it is like that, we, Serbia, would be in top 10 every year, because we always send outstanding vocals.
I think that Conan is good while singing Telemoveis live, he doesn't need wide vocal range for this song. It sounds good enough.
I can't wait too see how this entry will end, because it is so risky.
