It's an indicator between many indicators, obviously it's not a certain thing. But for the eternal underdog country in Eurovision having all this hype is very exciting :)

It is really exciting! I know the feeling and it is really good feeling! Last year Croatia came back and was one of the favourites before rehearsals. Everything else is a history :lol:

I still feel like Croatia could've easily gone Top 5 with Lighthouse, if it was presented properly. I think the song's pre-rehearsal odds were about right based on what was known at that point, and it was just that the actual live performance was a mess. I can't imagine Salvador's vocals being as questionable as Nina's were, and I don't quite expect they'll be putting him in outfits as ridiculous as hers were last year, so that already puts him in a much better position

In other words, Croatia's odds last year were only made based on the studio version, so they were more volatile by nature. This year, with Portugal, we already know Salvador can sing the socks off his song, and it's not something that'll require some outlandish, expensive staging act to look good (in fact, I'd say it's the opposite). It is a very risky song, so things could go anywhere in that sense - both an NQ and a Eurovision win are possibilities - but we at least have a relatively clear picture of how things will look heading into rehearsals.

Nina(Croatia 2015) was one of the few who opted to skip rehearsal for the grand final... Understandably though it may be to reduce the pressure and stress given how the rehearsals are now filmed as well, skipping for her didn't do any good :( .
This brings on to a potential topic of debate;

This year, the rehearsals will be filmed as well. I for one would have vastly preferred that the rehearsals are not filmed, for the element of surprise, and for the artists and team's freedom to experiment in peace. If you can't experiment on the stage due to the pressures of public perception, what's the major point of rehearsals(apart from testing live vocals,stage and sound)? Unless they are filming the best version of rehearsal, this action of filming rehearsals can only hurt or confirm anticipation.

In the case of Salvador during rehearsals, it is not the voice I will be curious about. It will be in the concept of the staging, volume of the microphone and his potential dressing. I guess my imagination runs wild. I can't help but imagine potential stage sequences, perhaps of Salvador singing from a roped moon stage piece, or Salvador sitting in a cafe or park setting, singing to and holding a teddy bear.
