So this was what he was doing instead of going to the Eurovision parties! I like. The music is more free when it is in a Jam session ;)

I just want him to be interviewed as soon as possible. I cannot wait to hear his take on all the things that happened: the contest itself, his win, his speech etc. I only pray someone will be kind enough to put subtitles in the video. Pretty please!

Also, I love listening to his talking voice. It's so smooth and calming. And Portuguese is such a beautiful language. I actually started learning it because of this year's ESC and Salvador. I want to at least be able to hold a decent conversation when I arrive in Lisbon next year.

this list is MURDERING me with its wild statistical inconsistency. why are we mixing jury-only, televote-only, the first 50/50 and the second 50/50, and why are 2016/2017 results arbitrarily converted to the second 50/50?? it's driving me insaaaaaane

Alex Florea from Romania about Portugal's victory

They used marketing to win, as happens in our talent shows as well. His backstory worked and the public ate it up. But from my point of view, Salvador doesn’t have heart problems, but head issues. Everybody thought that Italy would win, but there was a big fuss in Kyiv about [Salvador Sobral] because he was mysterious, he didn’t give interviews, he didn’t take photos and he wouldn’t show up for rehearsals. The Bulgarian representative could also have used his story, as he doesn’t see well, but he didn’t. The Portuguese played a role, that’s what I felt. I saw him on many occasions and I didn’t believe he had [health] problems. On the other hand, his song is excellent and it’s been a while since something like this has been written. But I am annoyed by the cheap theatrics, that’s why I’m so cynical. A lot of people have problems. But don’t use this to win. If you want to win, use what you do professionally, your voice, your show. That’s winning! I’ve had problems myself in talent shows, but I’ve never resorted to cheap deceitful tactics in order to win.

yada yada yada. says the guy who almost sexually assalted an 18 year old on stage.

The report is that Salvador suffers from heart failure, and he did grant interviews!

and as if the general voting public cared if he was mysterious in kyev!

while robin was right, alex is just reaching harder than people defending russia's attitude this year. the large majority of the voting public didn't and still doesn't even know salvador was sick all this time. also, "head issues" is just rude and insensitive. alex i love you but wyd boy.

Insulting people with mental illness is real classy
BUT
what would u expect from a guy that voluntarily sang a RAP-YODEL song ....... What u see is what you get.

Even though I found "music isn't fireworks; music is feeling" a really poignant thought, some of Salvador's speech did give me pause. But if this is really what other contestants are saying about him, I can't spend too much energy begrudging him for saying anything about them. Also,

I am annoyed by the cheap theatrics

musical elitism is gross and hypocritical coming from someone who loves jana burceska and had to endure all the equally gross shit thrown at her

Is that musical elitism coming from you too?

I ain't gonna judge you though, we are just commenting on a forum.
Plus I never said anyone had "head issues" I just comment on what I like or don't like.

If anything I don't have a platform to spread my musical elitism around.
Alex obviously has one to spread hate.

i literally said that jana was unfairly treated in my post and that's why i mentioned her wtf. also none of this addresses the point i made, that alex being insensitive and rude does not justify bringing elitism into this by implying someone who does rap-yodeling is obviously a bad person, which is about as bad as what alex himself said.

P.S
No one said he was a bad person cause he sang a rap yodel song.

More like he literally came off very uninformed and shallow just like his shallow song.
That is what was implied.
Anyways, I stand by it.

p.s
Ilinca is amazing though xheart
Did i imply she is a bad person too with this statement?
Cause she is obviously a great girl.

The amount of jealousy and hate for such a calm song is remarkable. And incredible. We are talking about Portugal winning for the first time with a romantic song.

I think some are already grinding their teeth, fearing that plastic disposible pop has died.

No more words needed for his rudeness but... seriously, Wiwibloggs sure knows how the world works! First they ask for interviews and pictures, they use the songs to sell their merchandising and then they publish articles like this with the only intention of making a fuss. Kinda the same thing happened to Francesco, he didn't say anything wrong but the minute he wasn't the favourite anymore, they immediately stopped talking about him if not complaining about his rehearsals and keep saying how bad they were. All of this after they made money with the Namastè t-shirt. Not nice.

I actually didn't realize this but now that you said it ..... Makes perfect sense.
Interesting way of thinking.
