Re: PORTUGAL 2014

Catarina is the least worst option here!

I know... Provided she manages to sing properly.

Just not in English please!

I don't believe A-Lister is aware of any of this... Should I call his help?

I don't think they'll choose the English version if she wins.
But we should consider every option. We might need some backup.

We'll probably find some other artist singing a version of "Mea Culpa" in the coming months, just like "Canta por mim" became Manca Spik's "Zensko srce"

Andrej Babić actually wrote "Canta por mim" for Manca and they wanted to send it to EMA 2010, but decided to send "Tukaj sem doma" instead. The rest is a history :D

That English version is useless, since they didn't get rid of the really annoying thing of the Portuguese one: that mea CULPA......DISCULPA NONO

Well, it's not good, but if you pay attention to the song and try to remember the lyrics, what comes to your mind will be "Mea Culpa", "Desculpa" and "Escuta", so they're goal was to make it "catchy" and easy to memorize. Still, I like this version more than in Portuguese.
The first time I heard "Mea Culpa" in Portuguese, I could barely remember it and sing it (all that I could sing was "Canta Por Mim") But since yesterday, the English version is literally in my mind all the time. It's really "catchy", so somehow, it's bad but you can't forget it.

It's not torture  Actually, I think that this song is not that bad, if you listen to all the other songs of Festival da Canção. It's not perfect, that's for sure. However, I'd rather have this song in Denmark than Suzy's one. Suzy's perfomance is really boring. It should have rhythm and it doesn't. Basically, you just see Suzy singing and that's all. Except for that crazy "headshake" she does in the end. She was almost going to fall while doing that. I laughed out loud
Catarina's song is average, but at least, she moves and dances for a while... even if it is not a great choreography. If she becomes the winner next Saturday, she should seek for advices and make "Mea Culpa" unforgetable.

Re: PORTUGAL 2014

Welcome, Miguel. .D

Oh she will get her first place (unfortunately), but in ESC she will remain at the bottom of the semifinal. :D

I really think she is the only one that can qualify us to the final, if the performance is better and they stay in Portuguese. I'm pretty sure the performance would be worked on in case she wins. And the fact that it's in Portuguese would make it stand out a bit considering the big lack of foreign languages this year.
She only needs to perform it better, and she can qualify to the final, specially if the song is revamped, which I think may happen.
The only other one I think would be able to qualify is Zana, but with a worked upon performance. In the final though, I don't think it'd do very well. All the other three would possibly be bottom of the semi

Of course not, I meant the way you put it made it sound like it was :p
I don't really mind the mea culpa/desculpa/escuta, although I admit it is very poor rhyming.

I like the song, I just don't like the way she sings it... same as in 2010 xshrug

The same here. I don't really care about the rhyming, but yes, it's poor.
Also, I think that her singing was not bad, but that guy who made the backup (Samuel, I think) can't sing worth a darn. They should get rid of him. Or make him stay with his mic off. Women think he's cute and that could help xshrug

Re: PORTUGAL 2014

"Mea Culpa" is leading a WiwiBloggs poll.

Catarina Pereira - "Mea Culpa" (49.31%)
Suzy - "Quero Ser Tua" (17.05%)
Zana - "Nas Asas da Sorte" (14.75%)
Rui Andrade - "Ao Teu Encontro" (13.36%)
Raquel Guerra - "Sonhos roubados" (5.53%)

It's pretty obvious now who should represent Portugal this year.
