I hope the result tonight finally shuts up Margaret fans for good

I have no doubt Margaret would have been exposed exactly as Amir was and would have ended up with a similar downfall. Her result would at best be no different then Michals :geek:

Nothing is gonna shut me up :)

I think Margaret would have done better in jury voting and she would have ended up in Top 5 overall but she wouldn't have won. Anyway, it doesn't matter now because Michal has conquered hearts of millions of Europeans so this is a very good outcome as well.

And? Once country hardly an example. Pretty much every country that gave 10s and 12s were countries with a large known Polish community.

Im not sure Polish community helped that much. Polish communities in Western countries are rather conservative so I dont think they would have voted for someone who is, according to them,'Polish version of Conchita'

Seriously, you want to open that door... again?

Amir ended up at 6th, so this is not that bad. The rest can be only "what if" kind of discussion, so there is no point to continue this after the grand final. I was not a supporter of Michał Szpak's song, but I am happy because of his result and I will defend it from all those diaspora-related comments, because even if I don't listen to "Color of your life" I can see that he has found new fans in Europe who voted for him.

This is a great success for him and for Poland in ESC, so I don't want to compare this result to imaginery result of someone else. I voted other way in our National Final and to be honest I don't think that I need to feel bad for it. Instead of thinking what result would have "Cool Me Down" (tbh, I think that it could be one of our best result as well) I prefer to watch this video:

This is sooooo excited for all people in Poland for sure. ;)

Lol I love how the audience applauded Michal after he received his big bag of points from the televote: I saw it as a big middle finger to the juries  I'm so glad for him because he gave a flawless performance imo. As I assumed, he totally outshone Dami for me.

Actually, this new system is nice because we can see live how weird and unfair juries were to some entries.

edit: I think of GianlucaTomoe, who wanted this song to be an epic fail, and who must now be delighted it came 8th xlove

This. Funny how salty the Russian jury was with a retaliation against Lithuania because of last year when Lithuanian jury gave 0 points to Polina Gagarina.

This. :) I thought the same, because in previous years only fans were those people who like to analise all details and now... we have it just on the screen and every single viewer knows what's going on.

Oh I missed it, I was too focused on whether they would give points to Ukraine or not  but you're right, they might not have appreciated that you snubbed them

Are we seeing Poland reveal itself as a ESC superpower now?

Poland uses "Diaspora". It's super effective!

xfacepalm

I don't like this song but diaspora alone can't explain this result (even though it probably helped). Otherwise they would finish this high in the televoting last year, in 2014 (yes, not even 2014 finished this high), 2011,etc.
I don't know about other people but my mother loved this one. She started singing along with it midway through the song and she had a feeling she had listened to this somewhere else. Maybe it got this effect on older people? I honestly don't know.

It was the same with my mum actually. She started singing along during the chorus:lol: My father loved it as well and he's a rocker and watches Eurovision more as a traditional thing and for the trololol's (of which there were none this year so he was disappointed, bless). They've no relation to Poland as a country whatsoever and it was both of their favourites by a mile. My mother did enjoy a few others such as The Netherlands, Malta, Croatia etc but not to the same degree. She was in awe of Michal. My father only liked Poland. It's undeniable that diaspora plays a role, but it's also undeniable that people who aren't Polish fell in love with this song.

I didn't like this song the whole time from February. After his semifinal performance I started to like it and from yesterday I love it. xlove

I am happy with our 8th place, but it hurts we could have been 3rd. It seems we have to get used to being marked down by "professional" jury.
In 2014 I maaaybe could understand they didn't like boobs cause it's a family show etc etc, yet their explanation was a bad joke because they put Conchita 1st. Double standards.

Last year they put us last because of bad vocals, I could accept it.. But still she was on the wheelchair, singing a soulful song about not giving up, it was deeper than just a song.

But this year something unacceptable happened. Michał was flawless, emotional and honest. Didn't deserve 7 points. It's horrible, no other participant was treated like that.. Oh wait, Cleo..

I think we made a right choice in our selections. My fav was Margaret and I believe she would top the televote just like Michał and with her singing jury result would be similar to Samra (around 15 points)
Edyta could have been higher with juries but couldn't get so many televotes.

Overall a place in the top10 was Poland's destiny this year.

I did not like the song I found it very bland. My opinion has not changed. I do not understand his success. For me it is soundtrack from La Boum, 1980 (starring Sophie Marceau) with silly lyrics.

Only diaspora can't give such a good televoting result! I know many of my people who are not polish and they voted it last night! This year your song gave me something magical, which stuck on my mind....it is not about diaspora i think. It is about music lyrics and performance! I still think it was so unfair last night all this thing!!!

Televote was more than diaspora,
I hope that EBU will do something with the ''professional'' jury.. Thank you Russia for showing us how does it looks like.

Well done :pl:
