Donatan/Cleo performing "My Słowianie" at a New Year's show recently...

Note to TVP: LISTEN to the public!

Seeing clips from different Polish music shows and festivals, makes me confident to say that Poland is SO ready to host Eurovision finally!, 2015 maybe?

Re: POLAND 2014

Ok, I decided that the song should probably not be translated afterall, though I think in particular westerners (who understand English) is the main target of the lyrics should be able to understand the point, so if they could atleast put English subtitles somehow? I'm a bit in two minds on this one really (in regards to language)... but atleast I've come to the conclusion that TVP should pick this song! Afterall it seems Donatan/Cleo are willing to do ESC and it would be a talked about entry, and as Mrm pointed out it's a cool mix of traditional and modern. Also, it would certainly help credibility for ESC in Poland, since this was one of the biggest hits and most talked about songs in Poland 2013 (in just 2 months the music video got almost as many views as the whole Polish population ), if anything ESC needs a popularity boost in Poland which is generally indifferent to the contest. Cleo also got the charisma and looks and can pull this off live efficiently and they can make an effective live show of it.

No,
Poland is one of the most poor countries of European Union.. xshrug

You HAVE to be kidding me right? And this coming from a country almost bankrupt (no offense)

Poland is one of the FEW countries in whole Europe that haven't been much effected by the economical crisis, in fact while most European countries' economies shrank, the Polish GDP growth stayed positive throughout the roughest years of this latest global economical crisis.

Also, it's the broadcaster that is solely responsible for ESC, not a country as a whole. Trust me, Poland and TVP are ready to host and if you check clips from Polish TV music shows and festivals from the past years, you'd quickly change your opinion because they got some pretty good productions (just look at the stage on this out-door New Year's show for instance).

We hosted Euro 2012 and the Eurovision would be a challenge for us? The event that could be hosted by Ukraine and Serbia? What a bad joke.

But hey, we haven't even our representative released, so any talks about winning and hosting are somewhat funny.

Yes, we may not the richest, but we still have money for festivals and stuff. We hosted Euro back in 2012, we'll host the Olympic Games in 2022 in Cracow. I don't think it's that bad and if we didn't have money for hosting Eurovision next year, we wouldn't participate this year. But that's my assumption.

Re: POLAND 2014

What this has to do? :?
But to make you happy, yes Greece is one of the most poor countries in European Union.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend you (or Greece and Greeks in general), I just thought your comment was slightly ignorant and not very true. You have to look into many factors.

I mean Ukraine and Serbia hosted ESC, and they're both much poorer than Poland is xshrug

In fact if you're just blindly looking at GDP/cap numbers (and don't take into consideration anything else or how ESC is actually paid for), then Poland is richer than the following ESC countries (as of 2012 statistics): Hungary, Latvia (former ESC host), Croatia, Russia (former ESC host), Belarus, Turkey (former ESC host), Bulgaria, Romania, Montenegro, Serbia (former ESC host), Azerbaijan (former ESC host), Albania, Ukraine (former ESC host), Armenia, Georgia, Moldova.

But like you know, there are many factors to add into this. Firstly, it's the connected broadcaster that is responsible for the hosting and how they finance this can be made in different ways. Also, as I pointed out, Poland happens to be one of Europe's most stable economies and didn't really shrink during the economical crisis like most of the other countries were (and are still doing).

I know right? I've seen many clips from various Polish music TV festival shows and festivals, and alot of them are great productions. I mean this is just for some New Year's TV show, just imagine what they'll do if they'll host ESC

Truth we weren't/aren't THAT affected by crisis, but it's not so colorful as you write. Truth is somewhere in the middle.
Of course we can afford to host and we have venues in case "My Słowianie" wins ESC  ;)

- ERGO Arena in Gdańsk/Sopot opened in 2010, 11 000 seats with standing places capacity 15 000

- Atlas Arena in Łodź (opened in 2009) for 10,400 people + extra 3000 if needed

- Kraków Arena to be opened in April 2014, capacity 15000 for sport, concerts from 11 000 to 18 000 depends on stage position

- National Stadium in Warsaw with closed roof, 58 000 for football matches, 72 000 for concerts (too big I guess):

info from wikipedia

TVP produced under the license - The Voice of Poland and Clash of the Choirs and they were good shows I think (visual-wise)
Stage of Opole Festival 2013 http://cdn20.se.smcloud.net/t/photos/t/224814/festiwal-opole-2013-joanna-moro_16619171.jpg

So I can say technically we're ready with place to host and production, money as well (of course we wouldn't do show like Russia in Moscow in 2009 did)

Coming back to folk if someone is interested in something more traditional and Slavic girls without sub-text :p you must listen and watch this! (clip is beautiful!)
