Istanbul logo #4.

In a few days my city is going to host the last high jump event until the Olympics so I'll go to the stadium )))
I've just came back home - had SO much fun :p
It's like watching it @the Olympics. 1 girl broke her PB & tried to conquer 2m.
1 guy broke his personal best and jumped for A standard (lots of screaming and roaring), jumped into the last train to London lol.
Lots of hunks o_0  :D I've got a new Brazil-Ukrainian crush, he's really cute and ... passionate, can't wait to see him again :*). Many female jumpers brought their lil' kids with them , lots of sport legends sat in front of me and behind me, lots of talks about Olympics, trainings etc... gr8 feelings :D + I saw the training of our football team.
Now I'm going to cheer for 3 girls from my city in the Olympic high jump *proud* and of course Blanka and Tia.

^ Glad you enjoyed it, and the hunks, Aleks! ;) :D It's great that the whole world has something to celebrate together about!

The plans for the opening ceremony of the Games have been released. Called "Green and Pleasant", the theme will be the British countryside; the Olympic Stadium will be turned into giant set of fields, meadows, rivers and trees, complete with its own farm animals and rain clouds! The four flowers of the UK will be present; the Rose of England, the Thistle of Scotland, the Daffodil of Wales and the Shamrock of Northern Ireland. Notable country landmarks from across the UK will be recreated on the set, like Glastonbury Tor, and the animals featured will include 12 horses, 3 cows, 2 goats, 10 chickens, 10 ducks, 9 geese, 70 sheep and 3 sheep dogs. The theme is inspired by Shakespeare and 157 rehearsals have already taken place for the event next month.

Here are some pics of the model of the set:

Her Majesty The Queen will make the opening speech of the Games, and the ceremony will be closed by Sir Paul McCartney.

Some of the torch I got in Oldham today :D The first girl was 12, and she has a problem with her legs. The second runner was a lady of 96, amazing!

Only 13 days to Olympics left!! I can't wait. How are your predictions and expectations for your countries? I'd be happy if Polans wins more than 10 medals with more than 3 gold, as it was in Beijing. Poland has about 5 chances in athletics, 4 in swimming, 2 in fencing, 3 in sailing, 2 in tennis, 4 in canoeing, 2 in rowing, 1 in mountain cycling, 1 in volleyball, 1 in beach volleyball, 2 in weightlifting, 1 in wrestling on medal if half of them become a real medal it would be good.

I'm so proud of my team Fenerbahce whose sportsmen and sportswomen make up an important part of Turkey's qualified competitors, which proves that our infrastructure is the most developed one in the country, thanks to the efforts of our great president mr. Yildirim :)

I highly expect gold medals from Nevin Yanit in athletics and Melek Hu, our Chinese princess in table tennis. I also believe that Turkish women's teams in basketball and volleyball tournaments will do well.

I notice no one has reported the negatives so far. What about the security shambles and the opening ceremony being cut down? Not to mention the fact that London will basically be a police state for 2 weeks. I've never seen such a poorly organised games...hopefully it doesn't fall apart during the actual events...but it would be kind of funny if it did.
