^ That's exactly what I think about the mascots, animals would be boring, these are original! :D I remember when the Beijing opening was on, people here were like we're never gonna do anything like that, but Im not sure. I think it's gunna be either amazing or a disappointment, you know what the Chinese are like, they wanna be the best and so they wont be easily beaten. But I know that the Olympics in general will have a much nicer feeling in London, because it'll be more personal and full of meaning rather than Beijing where it was mainly focussed on just sport and money.

The basketball qualification round has already started. Africa is choosing their representatives.

Thanks to the World Championship in Hungarian Szeged we already know almost all participants in canoeing :p

(hey! We got 3 licenses! xsnooty lol )
The last chance for Europeans to get 2 licenses in single events and 1 in doubles --> May 2012.

The IAAF World Championship (athletics) is scheduled @ August 27! This will be the last world championship before London 2012 :D
Blanka confirmed her participation (that's the spirit!) as well as Usain Bolt and Yelena Isinbayeva.

Btw, it will be full 11 months until the Olympic Games.

Congratulations Blanka Vlasic for a silver medal in the World athletics championships in Daegu, Korea (high jump discipline)! 203 cm cleared up, your best jump this season, and a 100 th jump over 2,00m! Wow! You were amazing and you definitely DESERVED this medal! If only there were not that stupid injuries....I am sure you would have a gold for the third time, but you didn't say everything yet, no no.....there will be still victories and great results! I respect Anna Chicherova, she is a big sportswoman and an athlete but I am not sure if she can repeat such a great season once again...especially now when she got the baby so she ll have lot of family obligations. But true, she was really really good yesterday!:)
Blanka, go for gold in London! No matter you didn't reach the gold yesterday, you are still currently the best high jumper (twice in row) and one of the best athletes in the world (in the top)! You are our trully legend, pride and hero:)!:D:cool:God bless you!

@ IAAF World Championship. Almost all faves flopped. Really unexpected championship. Doping scandals, Bolt's false start, Isinbayeva failed so much, Blanka, Idow, Pitkamaki (he didn't qualify o_0), Thorkildsen is not 1st, Semenya is not 1st...
It will be very hot in London :D

The next qualifying stages are boxing and gymnastics.

Crooatian olympic commitee (HOO) celebrates the 20th anniversary today. It was established on 10th of September 1991, when 29 sport federations in Croatia proclaimed the commitee. Mr Jacques Rogge, the chairman of International olympic commitee, is on Zagreb today, as a guest on the anniversary.

I will be cheering for Canada to get more medals than they usually get. And I will also cheer for the hosts. They proved in China that they should be counted for the top, so I think that Great Britain will end in the top3 at the end. As for Macedonia, well I don't have any expectations. So far there is no single athlete that has been confirmed to participate. My hopes are on the Male Handball team (good chance), the Male Volleyball team (lowest chance here), the Male Waterpolo team (good chance) and the Male Basketball team (decent chance?). I know the chances are slim for any of those teams to make it to the Olympics, but I hope they give their best.
I must correct myself! We have an incredible opportunity to be among the 12 teams in the Olympic Basketball tournament next year. :D

She did it! Yeah! Blanka Vlašić won the Diamond league in high jump discipline, on the last IAAF meeting in Brussels (Memorial van Damme)! She was 5th today, but since she performed in all the meetings and won it all, she only had to perform today in Brussels and with 18 points, she is on the top. Second year in row:)! It means she is the best, although Anna Chicherova is the cuurent world champion. I hardly wait for the Olympics now! Go Blanka, you are our pride!

Macedonia is a candidate to organize the basketball qualification tournament for the Olympics. The other 3 candidates are Lithuania, Angola and Venezuela. Since Lithuania organized the EURO, I think FIBA might be more prone to give the hosting job to Macedonia (Europe-vise). I mean it would be really epic to host Olympic qualifications and that doesn't happen often.

Aletem I think that macedonian waterpolo team had a good chance for olimpics too
They qualified for the EURO, so they might. :D It would be hard though.
