Bobbysocks were an absolute delight. Such a shame the performance was fudged up royally during that first verse but they recovered it well.

My ranking:

1. Kyle Alessandro – "Lighter"
2. Nora Jabri – "Sulale"
3. Tone Damli – "Last Song"
4. LLL – "Parasite"
5. Bobbysocks - Joyful
6. Wig Wam - Human fire
7. Nataleen - The Game
8. Sondrey - Vagabond
9, Ladybug - Hot as hell in paradise

I'd be content with any of the first four. 🙏

Song 9: Bobbysocks - "Joyful"
Bobbysocks achieved Norway’s first Eurovision Song Contest victory in 1985 with "La det swinge". Both members have tried again at Eurovision, either as part of another group or individually since, but Hanne Krogh and Elisabeth Andreassen are back together as Bobbysocks this year, this time with "Joyful" The verses are sung in a bouncy manner, and the chorus, starting “Joyful, joyful in my heart” is very catchy, and resembles ABBA style songs. Altogether a memorable, catchy song, but I for one think this ABBA style schlager has had its day at Eurovision. Some may want this to win MGP tonight because Bobbysocks won Eurovision 40 years ago, but everyone needs to remember, music styles have moved on since then. Even the background screen imagery looked like something from the 1980s, but at least the falling fireworks at the end were a worthwhile enhancement. As much as I like this song very much, it’s probably best if Norway doesn’t send this to ESC 2025.

The retro medleys are - as always - working well. But, of course, since it's in Norway/Sweden, you can be sure it's auto-tune.

Pretty cool to have written the first two Norwegian Eurovision winners and "You Raise Me Up". Rolf Løvland is the master of so many genres!

Ha ha, that was a funny 'mistake' by the hostess. "And now to our neighbours to the east - I mean, our good neighbours to the east - Finland!"
