This idea that the vocals are the most important and thus the songs secondary isn't what Eurovision as a concept is about
Tell that to the juries. I believe there even was a 'green paper' given by EBU to juries what to weight, and vocal performance was one (probably top IMO).

I think a televoting top 10 at minimum is basically guaranteed.
I think so too. The parts fit well together which is key. It just depends if people want soft or fun this year.

What still baffles me is Jone's poor televote rating. I expected him to be comfortably ahead of anyone but Alessandra.
He did the fatal blunder to admit in his presentation that he still lives with his mom and had worked in a shop.

Are these particularly horrible things to admit to in Norwegian society? How strange.

Especially considering nowadays more and more young people are staying home later into their 20s. Surprised it would be a damaging factor

It's like House of the Dragon intro song. And it's something I have heard at Eurovision so many times that I can't stand it anymore.

For the effort of the performer I gave it a 5.

Maybe in our fully immersed viewpoint within the fandom with all the hundreds of songs from NFs over the years, we become a little jaded to certain styles. Obviously Queen of Kings has attracted many accusations of "ripping-off" or imitating Klara Hammarström's "Run To The Hills", but a similar tempo and rhythmical structure does not mean a song is a blatant rip-off or copy. Particularly when casual ESC viewers may never have seen previous NFs before.

The beat and bass line of this track with good sound-mixing and the right audio output makes for an ear-blowing experience that I live for! It will absolutely kill in a live arena, and I know for a fact that with a further 3 months of careful practice and preparation, Alessandra will be true force to be feared for all other competitors in Liverpool.

One small request however... You know how she sung the Italian intro live in the reprise last night.... Pllzzzzz do that in all future live performances Alessandra, cos it's 🔥🔥🔥 - and y'know, give us an ESC edit including that on Spotify too, cos we're hungry fools :p

Really? I don't think we've had any entry similar to this one at Eurovision yet to be honest.

I´ve read some comments online (here and on FB) that this song sounds "old-fashioned" and very "Eurovision-esque" because we´ve heard such songs at Eurovision before but honestly, I can´t think of any....
..unless people are refering to energetic pop songs by female artists.

Even when it comes to the "tailored Viking stuff"... what was the last song? Denmark 2018 (?) and that sounded entirely different to me, imo.

Ooh I like it! The song is powerful and catchy, Alessandra has a strong stage presence. The only thing is, her outfit looks too costume-y, a little cheap.

This is one of those entries that is from technical and objective standpoint presented and made properly....

.......but it still makes me go like
joey-tribbiani-whatever.gif

I am clearly not the target audience for this.

Mind you, I am not really that much into Nordic electronic pop folk stuff. I liked some stuff from Keiino and also some stuff from
Jon Henrik Fjällgren, but usually its not my lane.

I still like this better than those first four songs that were already chosen before this Saturday.

My favorite part of the song is the intro section before the beat kicks in with just the atmosphere and choir. Definitely would have liked it better if the whole song was in that style.

:5: points.

Yeah, not my thing... I'm sure it'll do great though. I gave it a :4:. I think my kid nephews would probably like it.

Edit: Someone pointed out the chorus is a copy from "Ships Will Sail" by Paddy and the Rats... And yes it is lol

Her crotch area doesn't look correct to me. It's very distracting.

Really? I don't think we've had any entry similar to this one at Eurovision yet to be honest.

It's just like any Valkyrie song we've had thus far,

Like Denmark 4 years ago

Australia 3 yrs ago

And the trend was actually set up by this Ukrainian lady 11 yrs ago honouring Kyiv's Viking connections

Also, this melody and opereta vocalization technique is a feint which Norway has already sold us with Keino 3 yrs ago

So yeah, this is another ESC tailored entry from Norway. Those refusing to see it just have a soft spot for Scandinavian and Nordic countries and their music industry 😁 which is totally a OK unless you pretend this is all about you knowing good music and not about personal preferences. 😁
