He did the fatal blunder to admit in his presentation that he still lives with his mom and had worked in a shop.
Are these particularly horrible things to admit to in Norwegian society? How strange.
No one will admit to it of course, but it's a class system everywhere, even in egalitarian Norway. For example, Jone's bread and butter music genre is party music, which is disdained by polite society for being low-life entertainment for the provincial masses (Jone himself admits this is looked down upon in the presentation).

He did that in the semi too, didn't seem to work against him there. I think his problem was that we could only vote for one song. My vote still went to JONE, but I think a lot of people who liked his song voted for Alessandra instead.
Yeah there is surely something to that

Btw, I mentioned how NRK corruptly pushed articles promoting Alessandra and how we shouldn't vote for Ulrikke days before the final (even by a Swede no less), but they even had the gall in the middle of the final before the voting to bring up how Alessandra was trending no. 1 on Spotify. Talk about election interference.. That was blunt, but they obviously don't care.

Are the voting public so utterly hooked on every single word that NRK publishes and swayed by that? Surely if they don't like a song, and they have any respect or interest in Eurovision at all, they aren't going to want a bad song representing their country regardless of outside factors like high Spotify streams.

Maybe I'm too idealistic in this view - the tabloid press are the spin doctors, but I'd have thought and expected EBU broadcasters are made to show impartiality. xshrug

It’s a good song, but the performance and vocals need to be improved. She sounds like she’s kind of yawning all the time, which downgrades the song imo. As I said, good but not impressed. Still, 7 solid points in the poll

Maybe this? xD

Yeah, comes close. Reminds me also a bit of this:

It's likely some old Irish tune I'm thinking of, which is probably where they got their inspiration for the song's melody. It has that folkish rhythmic pattern which makes sense given the lyrics, and then draped it in an EDM robe.

Yes they are IMO, but seems to be universal. Even if a bit more hard to believe, it's still the official line that just some posts on social media by Russian trolls swayed the US presidential election for example.

Here, every single one of the voters were told minutes before they were going to vote that one of the songs was knocking it in the big wide world, and that would have had an enormous impact, especially if it followed NRK's earlier campaign of promoting the same song on their site, and surely on social media as well.

I didn't listen to the other songs, only Ulrikke and the winning one obviously. I'm satisfied that this one won and feel happy for Alessandra but very cautious that its hype will fade out till May, but who knows, afterall, ESC is watched by millions and many viewers probably will not have listened to this song yet

Easiest :12: I've given for a song after selection since KEiiNO - ever since I heard the one minute clip on Twitter (tack @Leydan xheart) I was hooked but didn't wanna get too invested. Top with both international jury and clear top with the Norwegian public means this is a front-runner for the top part of the final leaderboard in May xlove

However, can I just take a moment to thank Skrellex for one of my favourite-ever NF performances too? I've always enjoyed the song - I'm a sucker for that kind of melody and the build-up to the chorus in this one was always such a satisfying journey to my ears, but the performance and how she elevated her look and costume for the Grand Final... I am so grateful she qualified so I could have that chance to love her again one last time. Brilliant performance and song, and will likely feature in my Spotify 2023 Wrapped xheya xclap

Poor version of typical Nordic folk. It's like the Danish pirates gone very very low cost and unatmospheric. Even her costume looks like a cheap one for your local neighbourhood carnival party. As an admirer of most Norwegian entries in general , I feel this is one of the worst I can remember. Still, mind, it's not like they had any real options.

The song is good but ultimately I think it's going to get lost when more pop entries like Noa Kirel are revealed.

I think it's one of the best ones and that's not saying much since in my opinion all of their entries were bad since 2017 (bar 2020).

Where is the Norway that was sending quality and non-kitsch entries like "I Feed You My Love", "Silent Storm" and "A Monster Like Me". We need that Norway back and not a country that sends Alexander Rybak, Keiino, Tix and Subwoolfer (and even Alessandra) one after another.

Along Moldova, one of my least fave. countries at esc.

I know I hate "fun".

Best  entry since KEiiNO. The only issue I have is a slight performer-song mismatch, I agree with the "she's more like the princess' niece" comparison (albeit a very sexy niece).

Nowhere near the ESC winner, a top 10 is possible if the stars align and Alessandra doesn't get too much competition in the hot queen bop department.

You're right about Tix. Had forgotten about him, he was so bad it hurt. All the others imo went from being fine to great. So a very above average ESC country overall.

I have no problems admiting that I voted for Alessandra, I love the song and I adored her performance! To me this is our best entry since Keiino - which I also loved.
And at this point I do think Alessandra will be fighting for one of the top spots in May. In my opinion this years edition of the MGP was the best in years (ever?), and she easily won both the international jury votes and the norwegian televotes. That is clearly a good sign.
Of course this is not everyones cup of tea - but it sure is mine!

my prediction for liverpool:
final is safe but in the final there is a good chance to go the "monsters" way.
xqueenbitch

p.s. have still not voted here the song - no real idea what to do with that song.

They had more options than any other Eurovision country - maybe except Finland and Sweden.

And that thing about "typical Nordic folk" - it's wrong, at best. Alessandra's song is not in that genre at all. As somebody pointed out, it's in fact more Greek than it's Nordic.

Besides, Rasmussen was not representatives of any genre. There hadn't been a song like that in Dansk Melodi Grand Prix ever. So please, try to be just a little more accurate.
