Re: NORWAY 2019

Sorry, but am I listening to the same song as all of you? KEiiNO is generic pre-2004 Alcazar-lite Eurovision pop with a bit of a clumsy ethnic element tacked on to the end, what's exciting about that?

Pretty good lineup, Erlend's is the only one I wouldn't listen to again. It's a lot like 2017 where I wouldn't say there was an absolutely clear favourite so it should make for an exciting show.

Think I'm rooting for Ingrid, though as a fan of Turbonegro back in the day a Hank win would please me greatly as well.

Fake It >>>>> Mr. Unicorn >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> that super cheesy song that everyone is surprisingly hyped for >>>>> some other songs I think I just heard.

This NF didn't deliver me much life if I'm being honest but I enjoyed Fake It, despite it's attempts to not make me not like it by putting some oh oh oh's behind the singers lead vocal. The song makes me think of Andrew W.K. who I just so happen to adore, so I'd be on board for some Hank at Eurovision.

Mr. Unicorn as a name alone is enough for some bless appreciation from me (just stick a Mr in front of an animal name, very effective). I don't absolutely "love it" yet but it's groovy and breezy. Despite being super sugary and poppy, It doesn't sound like a Eurovision song at all. I'd be interested to see just how it would work at the contest. Could be too laid back.

Spirit In The Sky has some great synths in the chorus. I'm not fully on board though. The whole thing feels cliche and very predictable. My eyes kind of rolled when the traditional singing bit came. The song is catchy though (kind of ridiculously so in parts). I can see why people enjoy it, and it does stand as one of the three here I don't mind. Eventually I won't care about how basic bish and silly this is and I'll probably be going "yokoyokolyolkonoyokoonoyokoono" with the rest of you or something if I'm not secretly already now.

The rest I didn't like. I don't think it's even worth critiquing them. I will say though that I was so excited when I saw Carina Dahl's name there cause I loved Guns and Boys. Unfortunately this time her song does nothing for me. I'm sad. I will undo my sad though by ending my post with a reminder of the good old days when we could have both guns as well as boys, delivered to us in one neat little pop package. Bang.

Re: NORWAY 2019

this MGP roster is kind of weak but it will matter exactly zero if keiino wins because spirit in the sky is BRILLIANT. it sounds like dziesma 2014 gemstone saule riet which i didn't expect to listen to in 2019 but i Felt That. i need it in eurovision.

everything else is fine at best. ingrid, d'sound and morland (!) would be the most acceptable winners.

I am not too impressed with all of these entries, but I am LIVING for KEiiNO. However ... I have the feeling its gonna be a mess on stage and doesn't translate well on stage. :(

It's classic Schlager Eurovision song, yes, certainly, but that's not a bad thing in itself. What excites me about "Spirit in the Sky" (other than being top notch Eurodance), is that its rhythm and build-up enable really strong staging potential in the live performance. Just imaginging how they could visualize it on that beautiful Tel Aviv stage, with its gorgeous dark geometric neon triangles.... anticipate pure eye-porn. That the song is catchier than chlamydia is an added bonus. I think "Spirit in the Sky" has potential to blossom into an all-time EPIC entry with good vocals and an appropriate act. The caveat is that KEiiNO (and Norway) must capitalize on its potential, but that's what we have NFs for. Be good, or stay home.

. Despite being super sugary and poppy, It doesn't sound like a Eurovision song at all.

That's because it sounds, from do-to-ti, like an Eesti Laul entry. A CLASSIC Eesti Laul entry. Lõhmus Bless Norway.

At the beginning of the chorus of "spirit in the sky" there's this - let's call it homage  - to "Monsters"
