According to AVROTROS, they will be using the version in higher key in Liverpool without breaking any EBU rules apparently.
It won't be the acoustic version as presented in the television show yesterday obviously though
Yeah they can obviously sing it in any manner they want and bring backing vocalists if their delegation sees fit but the arrangement itself has been locked in since mid march so no strings which is a shame

I don't see why EBU will have an issue with an altered version of the song. Plus, it's just a key change. Not like it's a complete change of lyrics or brand new melody. So many countries have presented edited versions of the songs (I mean see UK, Spain last year) just for the ESC performance. They just need to practise and rehearse more to get their voices to mesh and sing in tune.

Yes but the Spanish and British versions that we heard at Eurovision were submitted before the HoD meeting it just was not publicly known about all I was saying is that the acoustic version with the additional strings would not be possible to do at eurovision so problems still remain obviously the key change is fine

Yes, that's what I heard as well. The piano strings were just for that performance specifically.

Yeah well they're probably NQing, I'll still be rooting for them until the end, the song is beautiful :(

It‘s not even Mia‘s & Dion‘s fault. People write bad voices, no chemistry… I didn’t felt that way. Yeah, the voices needed a little improvement technically (but I like the tone) but what really killed their chances is the incredible bad production quality. Whoever was the producer (Duncan? Or someone else? They themselves?) should be fired. He or she ruined a potentially good song.

Why is the production that bad according to you ? I'm really trying to understand as hard as I can, nothing jumped out at me, but I see a lot of people doubting of them qualifying

I was referring to the song production quality (not the rehearsal. They actually made the best effort they could but I don’t think this will be enough. But we will see.).

The arrangement of their voices, the instruments (they are missing impact and are too soft in comparison to the voices), the sound (loud/soft don’t match), the intonation - to me it sounds like a demo rather than the final product.

Their voices sounded very thin in the rehearsal.
Also, personally not a fan of Mia's performance style/facial expressions, noticed it in the music video and again in the rehearsal.
What a shame, I like the studio version of this song a lot. I still think it could qualify

The "AS IT WAS" by Harry Styles performance of Netherlands may not work for Eurovision for attracting votes while the outfit of Mia reminds me a combination of Eleni's Foureira outfits in the video clip Aeraki and the cover of her last full album.

The song itself is alright but it doesn't stick out melodically in any way. It sounds like a very average song that is heard on the radio nowadays. I think it will have a hard time to qualify.

4 points.

Their performance was really good to be honest, I actually expected them to qualify over Switzerland...

No surprise here: boring song, dated concept, lack of chemistry messy staging…. I hope this burries male falsetto for the next years for good.

Well, expected but still slightly disappointed, seeing there are entries that I really dislike that made it.
I never really liked the song but it was enjoyable, just the performance was.. bad. Like, really bad.

Silver lining is that Duncan Laurence will shut up in Dutch media now because I can't stand him anymore, even before he made Mia and Dion his little project. He didn't even bother to show up in Liverpool while he was their so to say mentor? Also, I hope we will change the selection procedure because I'm done with ""emotional"" ""meaningful"" entries from us. Send something good AND fun next year!

Bummer for Mia and Dion who are for sure going to face a lot of backlash of this back here in the Netherlands. They can throw their careers away for sure, while I'm not that fond of them I do feel sorry for them as they were basically used by Duncan Laurence.

Whelp, a year lost for us but nothing to be worried about, excited to see what we're gonna send next year.

I saw the NQ coming. They have good vocals and they are great performers. But the song just didn't do it. It was forgettable and there was no high point that stood out throughout the 3 minutes. But as musicians there is no doubt of their abilities.
