I believe we will have these 12 countries that have already confirmed plus Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, San Marino & 1 of them: F.Y.R. Macedonia, Moldova, Norway, Romania.

That article says that Norway and Belgium are in negotiations... I thought they'd both made it clear they were out, or have I missed something?

no you have not missed ought. Both Norway and Belgium are no longer interested in JESC. Neither is Slovenia as someone has said. I think ESC has a bad enough reputation in Slovenia from what i've heard, I doubt they're about to join JESC which is significantly less popular than the adult ESC in countries who are in it every year.

Okay, i'm also too optimistic about this years Junior Eurovision Song Contest (but realistic).

For now we have 13 countries with Bulgaria's return to the contest.
I think that :az: Azerbaijan, :md: Moldova and :sm: San Marino will participate - and hopefully :mk: Macedonia will stay too.
And we saw :me: Montenegro debut (and it came from out of nowhere), so maybe 1 or 2 countries will also debut.
I also think that :al: Albania will return after "their neighbours" has returned/debuted. I also hope for :ro: Romania.

So i hope for 18-20 countries, but that sounds too optimistic, but it would be great!

I don't believe that we're going to have more debuting countries. Also I don't think that Albania will return this year. Also, I believe Azerbaijan stays for sure in the contest and I give high hopes for Moldova, San Marino and the F.Y.R. of Macedonia and also for Romania.

If the quality of the songs and the show manage to keep up with the Contests in 2012 and 2013, they are still hope for JESC

I can't believe, but there is a lot of positive response in Bulgaria about our return to JESC and extensive media coverage of the news, which overshadows even our selections for ESC.

Let's hope Bulgaria's return to the adult ESC will have even more media coverage!

I really hope Bulgaria comes back to Adult Eurovision, I think it is one of the most underrated countries in the contest and one of my favorites!!, you really deserved to go to the final in many years not only 2007

Belgium may return in JESC, but with RTBF, not VRT. And EBU are still trying with Spain as well.

Te RTBF thing is just a rumour at this moment, but Junior ESC press confirmed that they are holding talks with Belgium. As VRT already announced that they are not interested, it's quite logical that RTBF are into this.
