I'm going through the numbers, I've seen Lebanon & Yugoslavia in there as well. I think they've basically listed every country eligible of joining.

I wonder why Estonia isn't interested of it. Would be nice if we would participate one year.

Sad news about Czech Republic :(

We still need any two of:

:mk: F.Y.R. Macedonia
:md: Moldova
:ro: Romania
 Norway
:sm: San Marino

Romeo, you seem like the resident JESC expert. Do you think countries that were once in it like Spain, France, UK, Denmark etc will ever return? Or have we reached a point where the contest will not grow much more, but begin to decline?

Right your question got me thinking and I decided to do a 1000 word essay on JESC lol.

What’s Next For Junior Eurovision | ESCunited.com

It kind of covers your question, but I will go in detail now to answer:
France gave it a shot and ended 6th but withdrew, France as we all know are not the most interested country in (j)ESC and I think out of your list could be the least likely to return.

UK: Very unlikely right now, because they do not have the space in the schedule.. with x-factor being on at the same time, they had it on ITV1 then ITV2 but they both cover x-factor, CITV would be a massive waste of time, because it would get hardly any viewers. Plus strictly is on at the same time of year so that is even less viewers whatever channel ITV put it on.. I dont see the UK back in the very near future but as I mentioned in the article, peaks and throughs, when Kid Culture becomes more powerful then the UK will return, we just need another S Club Jnrs to come along and I think that will get the ball rolling.

Denmark, I said a while ago they could return because of the success of ESC, they have just hosted it, they had a lot of promotion for ESC... it is possible..

Spain could return as early as 2014 IMO.. I think they need to work on their TV schedule and see if it could fit in, but the EBU (I believe) have been working on Spain to return, and with all the changes the EBU have made to JESC I think they could be persuaded.

Even countries like Norway could possibly return..

I honestly believe that the 2014 will be the beginning of the rise of JESC, a small island from the west who has never had a win in any Eurovision will hosts JESC and will show a whole other side of JESC. so 2014 will be the turning point, maybe not a massive amount of countries participating but next year it will rise because of 2014

Its interesting to note that children's television was a big part of the UK TV schedule back in 2003-2005 when ITV participated, but barely appears on mainstream TV in the UK now.
I think there might be an issue for the BBC with children being part of a public vote, as when the BBC ran the Andrew Lloyd-Webber casting programme for the musical Oliver (the year before ALW composed the UK entry) the public could only vote for the adult that would play Nancy, and not which children would play Oliver. I think JESC is the only Eurovision competition the BBC has never participated in.

Probably the result they got in ESC this year was a deciding factor.

It was confirmed by people from BNT staff, that they are in talks with EBU about Junior Eurovision. Hopefully official information will available soon.
